What happens if you get the 2nd vaccine then test positive a few days later?

Is it less efficient, or do you get worse side effects?

Nothing, why?

As you're not supposed to have the vaccine within two weeks of a positive test, that's probably why OP is asking. I don't know, but think it's probably much less likely to produce an immune response if you're already producing one from the actual virus.

Yes, its what would happen if you felt fine, got the vaccine then a few days later felt unwell and tested positive. Or had covid asymptomatically and got the vaccine during this time

I can imagine this has happened, but hopefully symptoms will be less due to having had the first vaccine and maybe a little help from the second.

This happened to DB, he fell. ill about 10 days after his first vaccine. We think he may have had some, but not full ,protection - he is late 50s. He felt quite ill for a few days, and then very tired for a week or so after that.
But who knows how bad it might have been? You just can't tell.

This is the exact situation I'm in right now! Got COVID approx. 10 days after second Pfizer shot. To be fair, some of the initial studies said second Pfizer shot works from 7 days so not sure if that made a difference. Currently have VERY mild tiredness, and get a bit hotter/sweatier if exert myself but no temperature. Otherwise OK! Obviously just an anecdotal experience.

Ds has just had Covid about a week after 2nd vacc. He has had a very mild infection. Hopefully the vacc and actual Covid will give him long lasting immunity.
Interestingly, I spent 6hrs in a car with him and have not developed Covid. I have had Covid (18mnths ago) and I’m fully vaccinated. I had a similar close contact before vaccination and didn’t catch Covid.
I did catch a cold from DS in May. I suspect the common cold is going to be a bigger problem this winter due to so much isolation.
