do I get 2nd jab?

ok, this is quite mad, I guess.

I am due my second Pfizer jab today.
reading threads about more people getting ill if they are double jabbed.
honestly having second thoughts.
nothing seems to have confidence in them now, and we are in a different place to before.

encourage me?

oh, and the same old trotted out 'theres bound to be more people ill who are double jabbed because maths' etc, wont work.

You will still be better protected after 2 jabs than after one.

Scarby9 · 21/08/2021 10:52

Yes.
Get it.

This is like asking what 2+2 is and then saying don't you dare tell me it's 4 😂
GoldenOmber · 21/08/2021 10:59

First jab gives you some protection against catching it. Second jab gives you more protection.

First jab gives you some protection against getting seriously ill even if you do catch it. Second jab gives you more protection.

Neither one protects absolutely everybody from absolutely everything, but your odds are better if you get one jab and better still if you get both.

frozendaisy · 21/08/2021 11:01

Surely you would be better off asking your IRL family and friends to "encourage you"?

Smartiepants79 · 21/08/2021 11:01

What are your reasons for not wanting it? What are the negatives (to you) that seem to be outweighing all the massive positives.
There are lots of things in life that you may not be able to do, at least for the foreseeable future, without proof of full vaccination.
All I can offer you is

  • my DH caught COVID after 1 jab. Reasonably unwell, laid up for a couple of weeks. Now completely recovered.
  • I caught COVID after 2 jabs. I’ve barely noticed I’ve got it.
It’s hard to persuade someone when you can’t really understand why they would say no in the first place.

Well, I think you’ll find Twitter pretty much conclusively proved 2+2=5 pretty recently, sooooo

I mean if you’d rather not end up critically ill or dead then it’s worth getting. There’s clear evidence the vaccine reduces severity of disease.

Well, that's too bad because you can't avoid the basic maths here... If you had a bag of 1000 sweets in it and 800 were blue and 200 were red, and you'd have to close your eyes and pick 20 sweets. Do you think you'd be more likely to end up with more blue or red ones among the 20?

There is no evidence vaccination increases anyone's chance of catching covid and lots of evidence to the contrary.

There's even more evidence vaccination protects from serious illness. Why else do you think hospitalisations and deaths have fallen so sharply while more and more people have been vaccinated?

CatsGoPurrrr · 21/08/2021 11:05

If you’re truly worried then speak with the nurse when you go/ all GP. Why ask randoms in the internet to ‘encourage you’. Honestly you sound about 12.

spotcheck · 21/08/2021 11:06

Op
Did you react to the first jab?

ConfusedParticle · 21/08/2021 11:08

If facts won't "work" for you, then why bother posting?

That’s definitely not true. It does help with Delta and it doesn’t make it worse.

ConfusedParticle · 21/08/2021 11:24

thank you.
I don't tend to read about covid, only once a month, and I always wind up stressed!

im very pro vaccine, but im aware news is changing all the time.
I would appreciate advice rather than insults. insults are a bit weak and don't show much intelligence or humanity.

am off out for my jab now, hope the fucker doesn't hurt my arm as bad as the first!

Picklesthecat · 21/08/2021 11:27

It seems that you are specifically stressed about something that you have read. Can you tell us what it is so that we could try to address it?

seasidehouse · 21/08/2021 11:36

My partner had his second Pfizer jab at the beginning of august, slightly sore arm and a bit tired for 24 hours , much better than the alternative
Hope you get it done and not too long a queue
