Covid twice...?

Anyone had Covid twice? And if so how was the second time? Were you vaccinated or unvaccinated the second time?

DH has had it twice (confirmed), first time pretty mild (like a cold) last April, but then some long haul stuff that went on and on, mostly better after 13 months ish. Just had it again, Delta I assume, really mild this time for him, hardly any symptoms at all but interested to see if the 'long' stuff comes back again. He is unvaccinated. I am vaccinated and have been worried about his decision not to vax but having seen him so mildly ill this time I can see why he wasn't overly worried for himself personally. I was really ill the first time and went on to have long Covid so felt safer vaccinating myself. He does say he will consider the vaccine now as doesn't want the hassle of isolation a 3rd time!

Interested to hear how others have found round two?

Yes I had it twice. First time in March 2020 (felt terrible for weeks then long COVID) and again in December, so I presume the Kent varient. Second time was like a baddish cold and I was mostly better in a week and totally better in two. Got an uptick in long COVID symptoms but they then carried on dying down again.

My ds had it twice. He said the first time was awful and it scared him he said it often felt like a Weight was on his chest and he struggled to breath sometimes. The 2nd time it was milder his taste and smell is not what it used to be. Its been 17 months since he had it first.

Bodes well for some level of natural protection, perhaps not complete but partial to make it less severe for most at least!

My DS ( aged 22 ) has had it twice. Quite unwell both times - cough, fever, loss of taste and smell the first time but not the second. Unvaccinated both times.

I'm interested in how your husband tested positive last April, "mild (like a cold)". Last April, wasn't it still the situation that you could only really get tested if hospitalised or really unwell?

My daughter has had it twice, in fact she's in quarantine right now with it, and she fully vaccinated. First time was last September, horrible headaches, body aches, diarrhoea, extreme fatigue, fever, lost her sense of taste and smell for over a month. Fully vaccinated by April. Just tested positive gone Friday and has body aches, headaches, extreme fatigue, sore throat, cough, and chest congestion.

You can still catch Covid and have to isolate if vaxxed. 2 of my work colleagues are double vaxxed and currently have Covid, I currently have Covid and I'm single vaxxed. Hopefully though having the vaccinations plus having Covid will make for some good immunity!

idontlikealdi · 18/08/2021 12:45

DH and I have it now and are double vaxxed.

PipPippin · 18/08/2021 15:38

@Waxonwaxoff0 have you had Covid before and one vaccine? Interested to hear how you are feeling this time compared to last time?

@DumplingsAndStew He tested positive for antibodies last year, this time positive PCR. I was tested in hospital for Covid and we assume he had it then too seeing as he cared for me (but was quite mildly ill compared to me).

@idontlikealdi i hope you make a swift recovery, have you had Covid before or are you saying you're double vaxxed but still have caught it again now?

Maybe the OP isn't in the UK @DumplingsAndStew. Lots of countries had their shit together with testing quite early on. Our Boris' approach was pretty unique.

I've had it twice. First time was end of January, no symptoms and tested because it was going around my workplace. I was completely shocked and felt fine.

Second time was a few weeks ago so 7 months later. And def a different experience. I all of sudden in the middle of the day was hit with tiredness followed by high temp, headache and muscle pain. Took a latest flow at home and boom positive. I then took a pcr home kit 2 days later which confirmed result. On day 4 i lost my taste and smell , which 2 weeks later im starting to slowly get back. I am unvaccinated by the way.

Thankfully it seems very rare.
