Isolating

I've just tested positive for Covid and so has my DD who is 18. I'm confused when our first days of isolation should be.

My DD had been in contact with someone last Monday (9th) who went on to test positive but didn't tell her until my DD told her she was. My DD felt rubbish on Wednesday but didn't have classic symptoms. She did LFT tests on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday which were all negative. Friday was the last time I saw her and I haven't been anywhere at all this weekend. She did a test yesterday which came back positive while I woke up feeling a bit rubbish. My LFT came back negative. We both went for a PCR and both came back positive. Does her isolation start from the day she started feeling ill (Wednesday) or from the test and does mine start from when I started feeling rubbish (yesterday) or from when I must have already caught it (the latest, on Friday).

Your isolation period starts immediately from when your symptoms started, or, if you do not have any symptoms, from when your test was taken. Your isolation period includes the day your symptoms started (or the day your test was taken if you do not have symptoms), and the next 10 full days. This means that if, for example, your symptoms started at any time on the 15th of the month (or if you did not have symptoms but your first positive COVID-19 test was taken on the 15th), your isolation period ends at 23:59hrs on the 25th

From the gov website . So it will be from when you both had symptoms. Doesnt matter when you saw your daughter. Its 10 full days after.
Test and trace should give you a date

Yeah I'd read that but when I isolated a few months ago because I'd been in contact with someone, it went from the day I saw them, not from the day they found out.

Well I missed whatever that said. Obviously nothing helpful

That will have been because you were a contact rather than positive so would go from when you had potentially got covid rather than when you are positive it's from when symptoms start if that makes sense

I didnt see the deleted post either.
Hope you feel ok @Snaffletrousers

Thanks. I've put the date down as the day I got symptoms.

I'm fine. Just a mild cough and I think maybe losing my taste. Just extremely bored. Staying in my room so I don't pass on to the kids.
