Just that really! And the reason why?

Do you mean people who had the vaccine more than 8-12 weeks ago but have chosen not to have the second?

There are loads that had their first vaccine less than 8 weeks ago so won't have had a second - a lot of people in their 20s for instance

Barwell76 · 17/08/2021 10:25

My BIL didnt. He is 39 and had Moderna and had 'heart pains' as he described it for several weeks after. Is ok now but doesnt want a second.

OffCycling · 17/08/2021 10:26

My 16 year old. The government has no plans to give a second vaccination to those aged 16 or 17.

I am double jabbed now but only as of last Wednesday, and I'm almost 37. For first dose I had to wait to be invited (Scotland) - you could not book your own appointment and there were no drop-ins running then. First dose was on 16th June, and had my second dose with an 8 week gap. So I'd imagine there are a lot of people younger than me in my area who are still to have it.

Fiddliestofsticks · 17/08/2021 10:31

I'm 32. My second jab appointment isnt until the 23rd, so that's why I haven't had it yet.

Fiddliestofsticks · 17/08/2021 10:31

I'm in Scotland also.

Pinkpowderpuff · 17/08/2021 10:33

Sorry, I should have worded that better. I meant people who have had the 1st but decided not to have the 2nd.

I know two people who got Covid at some point after getting the first dose and so now have to wait another 4 weeks I think before they can get the second dose.

kravestix · 17/08/2021 10:44

I haven't had my second. But not because I don't want it. I was sent a link to book it but every time I click, there's no appointments available. I've been checking the link every day for a week!

TulipVictory · 17/08/2021 10:45

I had my first dose in early March (AstraZeneca),
My second was due when first doses had stopped being given to under 40s etc. I did a lot of reading and decided I didn't want the second.

I would be happy to have an alternative second though. My gp said current guidance is you can only have the same second dose but to phone 119. Spoke to 119 who said she couldn't advise herself but has booked me in for a second vaccine appointment at a main vaccine hub in early September. She said they have Doctors there so can have a consultation and discuss mixing at the appointment 🤷‍♀️

It took just over a week for appointments to become available for me too (I was trying via a link in a text from my GP inviting me to book) - fingers crossed something will come up for you soon!

My mother hasn’t had her 2nd she had AZ she is under 60. The first dose made her very unwell and she is currently under the hospital because of it.

lljkk · 18/08/2021 12:07

Not what I think of as 'many';

If 93% (of eligible ppl) have had one jab & 76% have had 2 jabs, that leaves 17% who could have decided not to have 2nd.

Many of those won't be eligible for a 2nd jab. So maybe (guess) 8% might have decided against (so far). They may still change minds, too.

I don't think of 8% as "a lot" of population.

beattieedny · 19/08/2021 18:03

I had a dreadful flare up of an ongoing health condition after my first so I'm not having my second. I was keen to be fully vaxxed but nope, never having a covid vaccination again. I get the flu one every year and no problem at all.

CorrBlimeyGG · 19/08/2021 18:10

I was really poorly after AZ, so chose not to have the second. I would have an alternative, but the GP won't deal with any vaccine queries and the local hub won't give an alternative without my GP's agreement. I know several people in the same position.

I was extremely ill for 10 days after my first AZ - almost hospitalised. It was awful. I didn’t want the second - was adamant. However I forced myself to do it. I had no side effects whatsoever after the second - not even a sore arm. In fact, that night, I had the best bloody nights sleep I’ve had in years!
Hotpinkangel19 · 19/08/2021 18:59

I had my first but declined my second. I chose not to have it. DH got heart inflammation after his first Pfizer too,so he is unsure.

MercyBooth · 19/08/2021 19:43
