Spain go on red list?

Seen this on Google tonight. Not sure if it's scaremongering or any truth to it?
Since I have flights booked to Soain at the weekend which we aren't going on it would be good news for me as I would then get a refund! Doubt that will happen though.

The next travel announcement isn’t until the 26th August.

I hope not. I’m due to fly out there in a few days! Cases are going down in Spain so I wouldn’t think so but who knows with our government! They haven’t exactly been predictable about travel have they?

No source no it was when I googled to find out the next update then it came up.
I know the announcement will be next week but they can of course change things at a minute's notice.
I couldn't do with the stress about it so aren't going. Debating whether to change my flights though to another destination next year but it's going to cost more and if the existing flight got cancelled anyway I would be very annoyed!!

I very much doubt there will be a change before the 26th. I’m really hoping they don’t go to red. Amber plus or home isolation I could deal with.

There shouldn't be any change prior to the 26th. Even then, I think it's unlikely that Spain will go on the red list but I am in no way an expert 🙈 am keeping an eye on it all as I want fo go away somewhere for the long weekend and Spain is (currently) an option.

There’s no reason that Spain would go red, especially before the next announcement. The random page you found with no source is just a random page - anyone can publish them, and they’re trying to get clicks for advertising.

I’m not claiming to have any insider knowledge, but I’d be stunned if Spain went red before the 26th, let alone before this weekend.

That's just full of speculation. Nothing definitive at all.

I doubt it. We wouldnt have the quarantine hotel space for one thing! Ain't gonna happen.

That i article is all over the place and as Pootle rightly says there isn’t hotel capacity to accommodate everybody coming back from Spain given the numbers currently traveling.

I keep seeing that article on Google news and it's usually accompanied by another one suggesting that Spain might be about to go on the green list, so from that I take that it's all nonsense speculation designed to draw people to the page to look at the adverts.

And don't rely on your flight being cancelled if Spain does go red - Ryanair carried on with our flights last year (to carry essential travellers etc) even though FO said not to travel. We lost £800 in total.

If a Tory minister has a holiday planned there, it won't. No idea otherwise what the announcement on 26 August will bring.
