Want to go to hairdressers but too scared

It's been over two years since I've been and I've finally saved up enough money to go but I'm too worried about being in an enclosed space for 3 hours with no ventilation.

I am still being very very cautious as I have a baby and cant afford risk being really ill and not being able to look after her.

Should I go or not?

Have you had your vaccines?

BoomChicka · 16/08/2021 13:18

Nobody can tell you. I have been to the hairdresser at every opportunity, I have my nails, brows and lashes done at 3 separate places too so our levels of worry are obviously miles apart. Go if you want or don't..

Elouera · 16/08/2021 13:21

Have you been vaccinated? If you are higher risk, I'd suggest getting an FFP3 mask, which protects you much more than those flimsy, paper masks. Available from screwfix/DIY and used when handling dangerous aerosols like asbestos, dust particles and viruses.

My most vulnerable friend has been to the hairdressers several times. She chooses the first appointment in the morning and asks for a chair she knows is a bit further from the others. She wears a mask as does her hairdresser ( we are in Scotland so it is still mandatory). The only person you should be anywhere near is the person doing the cutting. Wear a mask and you will be fine.

Mobile hairdresser? Usually cheaper and could even do it in your garden? At least you would be in control: open doors, windows.

backtonormalonedaysoon · 16/08/2021 13:42

Mobile hairdresser 100% it's a lot easier with a baby

Frazzled2207 · 16/08/2021 13:43

Yes

Mindymomo · 16/08/2021 13:45

My hairdresser is still wearing a mask, so I do. The chairs and sink are cleaned after every use and chairs are still spaced out.

LawnFever · 16/08/2021 13:48

Everyone in my hairdressers is still wearing masks, have you had your vaccinations?

Have you generally been out and about, to the shops? For a meal? Seen friends?

Remmy123 · 16/08/2021 14:33

No need to be so cautious - please try and live your life - it makes me very sad to read this!

My vulnerable friend had only one jab got covid/ she only had a headache!! She has spent to long staying in to avoid 'dying' she feels a bit silly now!

VaccineYayVaccineNay · 16/08/2021 14:36

It's now or never. But like others have said try a mobile hairdresser. We have a mobile barber for DP and the boys and she does it in garden if weather is okay.

Katie517 · 16/08/2021 15:03

You are being far too cautious and it’s not healthy to continue to live in fear. Are you managing to get out and about to other places with your baby?

LilyPond2 · 17/08/2021 00:57

Are you at least 2 weeks beyond your second jab? If not, perhaps worth waiting until you are.

Why are you posting this repeatedly on every thread? If you are actually an admin then there is something wrong with your posting that needs looking at.

Snailhaterz2 · 17/08/2021 07:58

Why don't you walk past your usual hairdresser (or several if you haven't got one picked) and see what they're like inside? Are the ceilings high and the doors/windows open? Are the seats well-spaced out so that customers aren't sitting close to each other? Are the staff wearing masks?? You might be reassured by what you see and then feel confident enough to book?

No I get that but it usually comes under an admin banner in a different colour not as an ordinary post if that makes sense.
