What does vaccine passport show if you test positive and double jabbed?

Sorry if this is complicated. I'm double vaccinated.

Had a pcr test today following a positive LFT. I gave my first day of symptoms as earlier in the week as I've had a slight sore throat and headache since Wednesday.

If/when it comes back positive, what will be shown on my nhs Covid passport? I'm due to go abroad next weekend and appreciate I won't be able to go but maybe able to join family later?

It all depends what the Covid passport shows. The date of the positive test result? The date self isolation in U.K. ends? Or, if I download Covid passport now, before I get my result, will it show my positive result at all (if it is positive)?

I obviously wouldn't travel within my U.K. quarantine but if the country I want to visit (Spain) says "not had coronavirus within 14 days". What does this mean?

It means just that. Spain count from day of positive test (or they did last time I checked - when my family in Spain had Covid recently) - so if it’s positive today, the earliest you can fly there is the 30th of August.

In real life who knows how much they would check or challenge you, but ‘travelling within the UK’ also means going to the airport. You won’t be able to do so whilst legally required to isolate.

My main concern though, would be testing positive on the test to get back home from Spain. You’re not advised to re-test within 90 days because you could still show as positive, even if not contagious. Then isolation kicks in again, only in Spain this time.

Why was the PCR taken today if the symptoms started 4 days ago?

Ps sorry I’ve just re-read your OP and I misunderstood the ‘within UK’ as it’s not travelling but UK length of quarantine.

That said, my first paragraph still stands, Spain is asking you whether you have tested positive for Covid within the last 14 days. I would do some research to see if they even mean ‘isolating with Covid’ in the last 14 days, but that shouldn’t be the case.

Thanks. I know you're right I'm just a bit heartbroken and clutching at straws.

I only got a pcr today as my LFT were negative and I just had a bit of a sore throat. I've not been out since the symptoms started.

Covid passports are disabled for the ten days after a positive PCR. It then shows date of positive test result.

Oh that's really helpful. Thank you. I've been researching like crazy but finding information is really hard. I've not seen that documented anywhere.

My child's honeymoon currently hangs in the balance - recovered from covid a few weeks ago BUT the test just before might show it as still positive

No worries. I randomly discovered when I recently was isolating after a positive PCR that my covid pass had disappeared. I asked 119 about it and they said it's automatically disabled so people don't try to use it for travel. It's back now, along with bonus "recovered from covid 19" QR code

You won’t be able to travel. It doesn’t show on your vaccination but you need a pcr test while your out there which will show positive. People have been bringing recovery of covid certificates to avoid testing but sadly Spain is one of the few countries that will not accept it or if they do they force you to isolate.

You don't need a PCR test to return from Spain. Antigen is fine.

Also worth noting a Covid-19 recovery certificate isn’t accepted in Spain, if you’re travelling from the UK.

Only as part of the EU Digital Cert. So you will need the proper vaccination record, and I don’t know if/how the app enables that again after an infection.

But wouldn't you have an issue anyway with returning to the U.K. and having to do the day 2/ 8 tests (is Spain amber?). There is a chance you may still test positive for around 90 days after infection. I currently have this issue with my kids - want to take them abroad but they recently recovered from Covid..

This is true. I'm probably going away at the end of this month and will likely get a positive day 2 PCR. Not a lot I can do about that as long as it's a requirement to come back to the U.K.
Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 15/08/2021 23:13

@IsabellesMissingSock it's so frustrating isn't it? I don't think I will be able to take the kids for that reason, as it will completely coincide with them going back to school. I wish England could make an exception for those recently recovered from Covid, I think from what I have read Scotland and Wales do, ie if you test positive again within 90 days they wouldn't make you isolate again.

Kaftankween · 16/08/2021 08:27

@IsabellesMissingSock how long before your Covid passport reappeared? Did it return when your isolation ended?

Thanks for your thoughts and comments everyone.

I've been reading that some people who have had Covid are giving the day 2 return test the swerve if they've managed to get away. Booking for it and paying for it yes but not taking the test. There's been no follow up. It's something I'd think about for my daughter who has had Covid, if she gets away with my DH who's pcr negative and double vaxed.

@Kaftankween I don't think I checked on the day my isolation ended but the QR codes were definitely reinstated when I next did check.

Yeah I have heard about the people booking the day 2 test and not showing up for it. It's a possibility. I tested positive on 21 July so covid definitely still get a positive PCR at the end of August when I am planning to go away. That said, I don't have kids and can wfh so maybe I just do the test and deal with whatever the result is (and ifs it's negative then brilliant as then that means I don't have to continue to rule out destinations which require a negative PCR prior to arrival, as I want to go away early Oct too...)
