Change in the isolation rules?

Hi, Can anyone help me as I am confused about the isolation rules that are changing from tomorrow.
A friend called me today to say her DS has tested positive and that as we had a play date last week we might need to isolate too? (We def didn't give it to him - we have been no where - shopping deliveries etc and friend had been into London for a day out to the museums on the train etc...)
She said that track and trace had told her that we needed to isolate but that the rules were changing from tomorrow and that might change?

I am a bit confused? Do we need to isolate or not?

From tomorrow double vaccinated adults and children under 18 don't need to isolate as a contact. Think you're advised to take a PCR test.

If you need to isolate test and trace would contact you directly

I had to deliver that news to a couple of friends today!
Today close contacts should isolate, although legally you don’t have to until T&T contact you. From tomorrow if you’re under 18 or double jabbed you don’t have to. The degree to which you isolate/are cautious is then down to your judgement. If you’re a close contact you are asked to get a test though. I believe my friends are planning to isolate despite the rule change in terms of seeing others but will likely venture out for walks etc.
