Toddler covid symptoms

If your toddler had Covid (especially since the Delta variant), what were their symptoms? DS who is 3 started coughing out of the blue yesterday but has no other symptoms. I read the covid cough is a dry cough and his is phlegmy so hopefully it's not that but would love to hear your experiences. I booked a PCR test but am heavily pregnant so it's an anxious wait! Lateral flow test last night was negative. Thanks!

High temperature for a few days, in terms of symptoms that was it really. A slight cough after a couple of days but the cough didn't last long at all, it was more the temperature.

Thank you @catsandsprogs hoping the fact he doesn't have a temperature is a good sign!

My friend's toddler had a high temp and upset tummy. She was fine after a few days. Hope your little one feels better soon.

Snotty nose and general lethargy for four year old. We all go it and I had a phlegmy cough - I think the dry cough thing is outdated for Delta. There's no way to tell without a test - it overlaps with general cold symptoms so much, and can vary hugely from one person to another. But on the plus side there's a good chance it is just a cold - those are still out there!

Thank you all, only the test result will tell but trying to stay positive! He had Covid in December already and just had a snotty nose then, so who knows. I was pretty chilled back then but pretty stressed this time. What if he gets really sick, what if I get really sick and baby needs to be delivered early... lots of catastrophic scenarios running through my head!

My DH tested positive on Sunday so we’re currently isolating. Both toddler and 4 yo have had ‘classic’ delta symptoms for children- a cold and 4 yo has said a couple of times he’s had a sore throat and headache but neither have been poorly. I did a PCR test on myself and toddler the day DH was positive as he had a cold and then we all had another yesterday as 4yo was mentioning throat more, but results are just back and all negative.

Good luck with your tests!

Testing DS aged 4 today as he's v snotty and started coughing lots overnight. He then was sick everywhere this morning. 😖

Just hate doing the tests. But so be it.

Malheursdesophie · 15/08/2021 12:42

Good luck @feliznavidad2, hate putting him through the tests too :(. DS was sick last week too and put it down to a tummy bug, wondering what all these viruses are about! It's summertime and his nursery is pretty empty, yet we seem to have a different bug every week. At least the test is done now, hoping it's negative and we can get on with our lives!

@Malheursdesophie it’s the same with us! It seems that whilst has hit our house we have at least missed the norovjrus outbreak at nursery (which has swept through) so a flickering of a silver lining, I guess!

My 6 yo got a headache, pink eyes and snotty nose. slightly warm to touch but no fever. When we tested her with lft, a dark purple line showed instantly.

Malheursdesophie · 16/08/2021 09:28

Results are in and negative thankfully, thanks all!

@Lineeyesoverhere its so annoying isn't it! Congrats on avoiding norovirus it's the worst! On the plus side we never seemed to catch it after DS's vomiting last week. Definitely didn't fancy that while heavily pregnant !
