Can I get my second vaccine?

Booked in for vaccine number 2 tomorrow. Just had the news that a work colleague has tested positive. I work in the same room as this person but not within 2m so not a "close contact" in that sense. I am going to get a PCR test today to be on the safe side. Can I still go for my vaccine while waiting for the results even though I have not been instructed to isolate? I suspect not but I can't really find clear guidance. Arghhhh.

I think you can but I wouldn't. If you've felt the need to get a PCR test you shouldn't really go anywhere until that comes back. You could infect loads of people.

I’m fairly sure you should still be isolating while waiting for results, until Monday comes round.
You need to leave 28 days between positive PCR and your vaccine.

I think you can still go. You don't meet the definition for a close contact and are getting a PCR because of extreme caution rather than because you meet the criteria?

At least that was the case when I had my first dose. Although I'm a secondary teacher so if I had to isolate and test every time I was in the same room as a positive case I'd not get anything done!

What's the point of getting the test though "just in case" if you're not going to avoid going to a place with lots of people "just in case". How will you feel if it comes back positive and you could have waited.

I'm getting a test because my boss has requested it, not because I think I have it. LFT was negative. I have no symptoms. I'm aware there's a possibility I could have it but from Monday I wouldn't be required to isolate anyway unless I tested positive. So bloody annoying. I'm hoping the results will come back tomorrow.
