Do I have a legal obligation to continue to self isolate beyond Monday?

I was contacted by track and trace yesterday evening and told I was a close contact (on a flight and contacted through passenger locator form) and have to self isolate until 21st.
I did ask the lady I spoke to but she helpfully had no idea!!
I'm not so bothered about myself but because DD2 was on my form she has to isolate too.
Just wondering as I'm supposed to be taking my DD1 back to university to view a house and sign the contract. Massive pain in the arse if she has to get the train as she has work later in the day and if she were to get the train (as she normally would) it would take her 6 hours for the round trip.
Don't want to take her and get contacted to check we're self isolating.
It's so hard to follow the rules if they're not clear!!

No, I don’t think you do.

Eskarina1 · 14/08/2021 10:10

I'm in the same position and my understanding is that technically I can leave on Monday, though should be extra careful. My friend is isolating in Wales (already changed the rules) and she is able to leave legally but reminded it's a good idea to keep a distance.

CatMuffin · 14/08/2021 10:11

No I think you're advised to get a pcr test instead. They've updated the pcr site to say it's for close contacts. Not just for if you have symptoms any more

CatMuffin · 14/08/2021 10:12

Yes you are still supposed to wear mask and avoid people as much as poss

CinderFuckingRe11a · 14/08/2021 10:18

No the regulations say you can stop isolating if you are 14 days post jab 2 or are under 18.

The guidance says do a PCR, wear a mask, socially distance and all that jazz.

vxa2 · 14/08/2021 10:19

Position on self isolation depends on whether you have been double vaccinated. Advice is also that you should get a PCR.

drivinmecrazy · 14/08/2021 10:22

Thankyou that all makes sense.
We sent off our day two test yesterday morning but were advised to get another PCR test but when I tried to get one the website said I wasn't eligible so don't think I'll bother with a second one

Is everyone involved at least 14 days past a second covid jab, or under 18? If so, no need to isolate from Monday.
See background info on this press release from Gov.uk

I read on another thread that prior to 16th you still have to complete your 10 days as you are In the system, so even if you are contacted tomorrow at 11pm you'd have to do 10 days

drivinmecrazy · 14/08/2021 10:26

Thank you yes double vaxxed and under 18

That’s wrong. The actual government advice is posted above
Porridgeislife · 14/08/2021 10:55

The government advice only talks about people who are identified from Monday onwards. It doesn’t mention people already self isolating who were identified before the 16th.

I got pinged this morning to isolate for 7 days & it’s not clear if I need to self isolate after Monday.

Porridgeislife · 14/08/2021 10:55

(I am double jabbed as of 2.5 weeks ago)

Hermanfromguesswho · 14/08/2021 10:58

From government website. You do not need to isolate from Monday

Did you read the information on the links given above? It clearly states it under the paragraph Background Information.

You don’t. But if you were pinged by the app it’s never been a legal requirement anyway.
TheGenealogist · 14/08/2021 12:11

This question was asked on BBC breakfast this morning.

The answer was that no, you no longer need to isolate past Monday. But that you should book a PCR test.

I stand corrected!

I had heard that but on the news last night they asked this specific question and the answer was no. Someone on here also quoted the gov.uk site which confirmed that.
Oblomov21 · 14/08/2021 12:23

No, the above posters are giving incorrect information. You don't have to isolate after Monday.

RosemaryRosemary · 14/08/2021 15:51

I'm in the same situation and T&T said I don't need to self isolate from Monday (I'm double vaxxed).
