I feel scared…

I’ve been struggling with anxiety- I’m so scared of catching Covid and was scared of the vaccines as well.

I sought help from the GPs etc which were all useless- in the sense not saying GPs are useless but the advice was hold off the vaccine until you are more calmer but I’m not calm as I’m scared of Covid-

My husband (double vaxxed) said why don’t we drive to walk in centre in a hospital and you can either go in or familiarise yourself as much as you want and come out

We did that, each step was hell / I was crying but I did take each step went to the door and told the volunteer through my tears- I was taken in (my husband and dd (7) came in as well)

Went through the whole process in floods of tears but I didn’t run- I got vaccinated

It was Pfizer

But since coming home-

1). I’m terrified that I’m going to die if a cardiac arrest or stroke as a side effect of the vaccine

2). I’m 40 so not young - but no underlying conditions - I’m convinced we (husband,me and dd) have caught Covid in the vaccination centre.

I feel panicky all the time…

Not sure why I’m posting maybe just to get it off my chest

@aibusux2u thank you . Will check this out.

I was counting down the days from the vaccine to convince myself that I haven’t caught Covid- now I’ve read a thread which is freaking me out…how stupid could I get?

I know what you mean @FeelingJittery1

I have health anxiety and still Google symptoms

Its crazy what we do to ourselves

FeelingJittery1 · 18/08/2021 07:45

@ssd I know it, it’s really silly.
@ssd still feeling nervous- I did the most stupidest thing, there is a thread questioning Pfizer deaths and I read it….now I’m pretty convinced this is going to kill me
I know this is only one person, but in case it helps, I'm double-jabbed with Pfizer (now 2 and a half weeks post-jab 2) and I'm absolutely fine :-)

Makinganewthinghappen · 18/08/2021 09:16

Do you take medication for your anxiety?
If not for the love of God get some!!
I speak as someone who takes anxiety medication - for the sake of your daughter you need to demand more help.
This is not normal and it WILL damage your child.

Bryonyshcmyony · 18/08/2021 09:16

I was nervous but held it together. Not sure how I would have coped with someone bawling their eyes out next to me. I think my natural Englishness and horror of fuss or being the centre of attention would have stopped me doing this, anxiety or no anxiety.

ssd · 18/08/2021 10:26

I tried setraline, it didn't work for me. It gave me symptoms which led to further hospital tests which just made me worse. Now i dont want to try anything else. Medication didn't work for me.

Kittii · 18/08/2021 12:47

@ssd would you mind me asking what symptoms you got on sertraline? I've been having muscles twitches/tremor and not sure if it is the anxiety or the sertraline.

FeelingJittery1 · 18/08/2021 13:40

@ssd yes the gp suggested Setraline and Diazepam ( to make me go get the jab) readily- only because she wanted to get off the phone. I didn’t feel she actually diagnosed me…

I had unexpected bleeding on starting setraline

FeelingJittery1 · 18/08/2021 22:39

@ssd yes did see bleeding listed as a possible side effect..

I’m not keen on medication either.

@FeelingJittery1 How are you doing and how is your Dad?

amicissimma · 20/08/2021 10:15

I volunteer in a vaccine centre. For weeks I have been spending 8 hours once or twice a week there among the vaccinees, probably 10s of thousands in total. Sometimes I have to lean in to look at a phone, or a note, occasionally a supportive arm or even a hug is needed (only if requested, our default is to keep our distance). I test (LFT) before each shift and as I have neither felt unwell, nor had a positive test, I assume I have not caught Covid, despite only being partially vaccinated when I started.

I've been increasingly seeing people return for their second shot so thousands who have neither died nor been unwell enough from the first to not get the second.

Many, many people bring their children. At one point just after school pick up was a popular time and the place became quite lively. Some go in with a lone parent, others wait in the waiting area with volunteers keeping a watchful eye.

We are also familiar with the whole range of emotions people bring to their appointments, don't worry about being fearful - we are used to it.

@amicissimma
Thank you for your comments-

I’m trying not to read too much into this as I’ll not be able to cope

I’m pretty much still the same- between a rock and a hard place

Not completely happy that I had the vaccine- not questioning efficacy etc but I’m just not happy- I still feel I’m going to get an adverse reaction or have long term issues

Trying not to think about second dose however really scared now that schools are going to open and we are entering a ‘free fall’

I’m convinced I’ll get this from my daughter and end up in a hospital - probably my whole family being infected doesn’t help that thought

My dad is still on oxygen- not better but hasn’t got worse either

Mum on the mend - sister still negative

Going into winter is petrifying me…

Yes, but as im over the menopause the bleeding had to be investigated which was a referral from the gp and 7 month wait for a gynecology appointment. And as i have health anxiety you can imagine how hard that wait was. Then the gynecologist told me he may have to do a very painful biopsy , he kept stressing this. Luckily i didn't need it but i feel traumatised by it.
And all because i took a few setraline....never again

ragged · 22/08/2021 16:43

Was your life this exhausting before 2020, OP?

FeelingJittery1 · 22/08/2021 23:20

@ragged no it wasn’t

NoNotMeNoSiree · 23/08/2021 01:45

@FeelingJittery1
I've only just seen this thread, I know how anxiety feels so just wanted to Flowers
I'm over 40 too and am double vaccinated with both doses being Pfizer.
Have been for the past few months, and touch wood had no side effects whatsoever.
Easier said than done I know but try to not think about it too much, as that can make you feel worse.

Marty13 · 25/08/2021 11:44

Hey OP, how are you ? I feel like some of the previous posts were unnecessarily harsh. Your daughter is NOT going to be scarred for life, this was a one time thing (you won't get vaccinated every week, I should think !)
You reassured her and explained what was going on, there's nothing more you could have done.

But I do think you need to look for help, as it sounds like your anxiety seriously impacts your quality of life. Can you get another GP ? One who'll take you seriously ?

Marty13 · 25/08/2021 11:46

Also I don't know if that helps but sometimes reframing the risks put them into perspective. You're probably more likely to be in a traffic accident than to get serious effects from the vaccine, yet you still leave the house !

FeelingJittery1 · 25/08/2021 11:51

@Marty13 thank you - I’ve got another appointment with a different gp next week

But my dad is very ill with Covid in another country

I’m only 15 days into my first dose - so when schools open I’m not ‘protected’

I feel everything is falling apart around me
