Close contact WWYD?

Regular but name changed.
So we stayed at SiL's on the weekend, left Monday afternoon. She had symptoms on Wed evening and had positive PCR today. She's named DH and I as close contacts and we've been contacted by T&T.
However both me and DH are double vaxxed and from Monday we wouldn't have to isolate at all!
I have lateral flows and could do these daily. Both asymptomatic.
Would you isolate in this situation?

Legally you have to.

Looneytune253 · 13/08/2021 15:23

You will only have to do until Monday tho won't you? But yes it's a legal requirement

Nikki305 · 13/08/2021 15:24

Isn't it 48 hours before symptoms for contact tracing? So you shouldn't have to isolate?

Rainbowsandstorms · 13/08/2021 15:24

It’s a legal requirement.

DoubleDeckerSwimmer · 13/08/2021 15:26

If you have been contacted by Track and Trace, you have a legal requirement to isolate or risk a £1k fine. I don't know if it ends on Monday though with the rule change?

FlagsFiend · 13/08/2021 16:49

I wouldn't risk the £1000 fine. From what I've read on the gov website you'll be free from Monday if you are 2 weeks post-vaccine on day of exposure so it's only a couple of days.

Frazzled2207 · 13/08/2021 19:08

I think you have to but only till Monday. Everyone under 18 or double vaxxed or exempt can stop isolating on Monday

BerylBreville · 13/08/2021 20:15

I heard if you are contacted before 16th you have to complete the isolation still. Rules change on16th for everyone else.
I would check about the 48hrs though.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 13/08/2021 20:38

''If I have started self isolation before 16 August do I still need to complete?

In line with the new policy, you can cease self isolating on 16''

So assume that applies even if contacted officially.. so only be till Monday

According to this information that isn't true - www.gov.uk/government/news/self-isolation-removed-for-double-jabbed-close-contacts-from-16-august

Under background information: The following groups of people identified as close contacts will no longer be required to self-isolate. If their self-isolation period began before 16 August and was due to end after 16 August, they will be able to leave self-isolation on 16 August:

@FlagsFiend
Yes, just listening to the news on that 👍
