Is less sequencing a worry?

Saw this BBC news

www.bbc.com/news/58176249.amp

Apparently we sequencing less cases.
Now we opened up travel and see shocking pictures and feedback about private pcr companies piling up samples or not sending results.

Does this not make us blind to new varients?
Weird we so concerned with France and beta varient yet hardly sequencing any flights from South Africa itself.

Might explain the hospitalised double jabbed?

AZ was reportedly less effective against Beta.

Another inch deeper into the sand our heads go.

There's now a very large chance that the next big Variant goes completely undetected until it's too late.

The problem is we know from past year new varient were brought back from abroad.
Last August and September I remember the news reporting on some varient from Spain tourists and lots of Spanish farm workers has this varient.

Then their alpha/ Kent varient i think was something like 5th December Hancock got up and talked about existance.
But we saw cases slowly rise from September some imported.
We told alpha started here but not sure we truly know that.
But Hancock made big song and dance of how we were world beating at genome sequencing and that would keep the UK safe.

We have the government being tough on France over risk beta varient yet we hardly sequencing is nuts maybe was political.

I often watch dr cambell on you tube and alpha growth pattern was really slow at beginning then steep rise and I worry delta or future varients be same.
We won't realise we have a problem until its taken hold.
If it escapes vaccines we in for a rough time.
We getting rid if quarantine for double jabbed travellers and welcoming tourist in .
Travel testing seems like complete mess right now and doesn't fill me with confidence we are in control.
We all pretending like covid gone away.

If beta got into schools we would have a problem.

Nutters for being concerned that a vaccine resistant Variant is now able to get into the country without being noticed?

Or indeed, we ourselves could cook up this vaccine resistant Variant and we'd still be none the wiser.

Weird we so concerned with France and beta varient yet hardly sequencing any flights from South Africa itself.

As you hinted at in your second post the France/beta episode smacked of knee jerk politics rather than it being a considered decision based on careful analysis of the all data.
