Pfizer side effects in teens?

So DS, 17, got his jab on Saturday. No side effects for 48 hrs, but he has had chills, a headache, a low fever and joint pains since Monday. Taking paracetamol and fluids. This is all normal, right? I got AZ as did everyone else in my family, and we only had side effects for less than a day. Should I expect him to take a week?

I’m happy to be corrected by anyone but I didn’t think that the onset of symptoms 48 hours after the injection would automatically count as side effects.

If it was a continuation of symptoms that started within 24-48 hours I would put it down to the vaccine but I suspect that he’s just outside the expected time frame (although side effect symptoms can last for a couple of days).

Sorry to say but I think he may be ill from
Something else. Personally I would PCR test based on the low grade fever and other symptoms.

Hi thanks Cornetto, we did due a LFT yesterday and it was negative. I called 119 today, and the lady said these side effects are not uncommon in healthy young men. She walked him through a set of questions and said it's likely nothing to worry about. He is now feeling better, so am leaving it one more day.

Oh that’s reassuring, glad he’s feeling better Smile

My side effects from Pfizer started a couple of days afterwards and lasted for a few weeks. This is not unheard of.

My DH has AZ and was very ill from day 2-4, then within 2 weeks of the jab developed lower leg pain that GP said they were seeing a lot of following AZ.

Ds didn’t have any side effects from Pfizer

But they probably can react differently
