Evap line on test?

Hello,

Hope this isn't a silly question. Just looked at my DC test from earlier today and there is an extremely faint line. We can definitely all see it, not sure if it'd show up on a photo to be honest otherwise I'd have posted a photo. Reminds me of an evaporation line on a pregnancy test, barely there kind of line. Unfortunately that was the last test, I have just ordered some more and we'll stay home tomorrow to be on the safe side. Do covid tests sometimes come up with an evap type line or does this mean she's positive but for some reason the lines not come up properly?

Thanks

I’m not sure about and so like and the length of time after you took the test, but DH tested positive this week with a very faint line. A line you’d miss if I hadn’t have been a little OTT with a torch to check!!

I don't want to bring bad news but my line was so faint I thought I was imagining it... Positive pcr though!

Bakewellisntjustacake · 12/08/2021 02:45

In my experience (nhs staff) there are no evap lines. It's not like a pregnancy test. If you can see a line it's positive

househuntinginthesouth · 12/08/2021 02:46

Ah okay, I wondered if it may be a genuine positive as although she's not got the three main symptoms on the NHS website she was feeling really rough last night.
Bit anxious now, hope if it is Covid she's not too ill with it. Also I'm high risk so anxious about that too.

Did you report your test online? There is now an option to submit a photo and it reads it for you its instant .

CalmDownBoris72 · 12/08/2021 07:41

They are very common with the newer type you order online in my experience. I never, ever saw one on the older type we used for months and months.

claireymrsd · 12/08/2021 07:43

My husband had a very faint line on a LFT and tested positive on PCR
No symptoms

Misspacorabanne · 12/08/2021 09:39

Just wanted to let you know what happened to me, I has a very faint line/shadow we could all see on my rapid test, ordered pcr anyway, but tested myself with another rapid test straight away to compare tests and that was clearly negative no hint of a shadow, I did the pcr anyway and that came back negative. So I don't think I had it.

These are the lines that we can see, not sure if they're visible on screen.

Yep they're lines.

Dandy008 · 12/08/2021 13:11

I’d say they are positive.

Ostryga · 12/08/2021 13:12

They’re not even evaps! They’re blindingly positive. Time to go get a PCR.

Dandy008 · 12/08/2021 13:12

We’re they negative after 30 minutes and the line has shown up past that period?

If so, get here to do another test.

The results should be taken within 30 minutes.

FizziWater · 12/08/2021 13:14

I think you are only meant to take the results after 30 minutes no more. In any case if you put the details in the gov website it will tell you to get a pcr.

househuntinginthesouth · 12/08/2021 13:21

Thanks so much for your help, will book in for a test.
I better start planning some indoor activities.

Thought I'd update, result test came back negative. Perhaps this was a bad batch ? Not sure, just relieved no covid here!
Thanks so much for everyone's help Smile

What did they say regarding isolation? I’ve had a couple of faint LFTs & awaiting pcr results. Had a couple of people say LFT have to be blindingly obvious.
