Confused about test result text

I may be being dim here.
I had a scratchy throat and headache, did a flow test and it was positive. Booked and went straight for a pcr test which was done at 5pm. When I got home I logged the positive flow test. I've now had a text and email telling me my result is positive but I suspect it refers to the flow test as it's only 2 hours since the pcr?
But why would they tell me the result of a flow test when I told them?Confused

Obviously isolating.

It willbs the pcr, they are turning them around quickly now.

Hope you feel better soon.

HDready · 10/08/2021 19:28

You do get a text after registering a LFT, presumably so that you can prove the result if someone asked you.

kimlo · 10/08/2021 19:29

you do get a text and email when you log a lateral flow it says lateral flow on it. It sends you the result so you can show people if you need to, I need to send mine to work.

When it's a pcr it says pcr on the text and email.

MarcelineMissouri · 10/08/2021 19:30

You always get a text for uploading a result, positive or negative.

They don't turn them around in 2 hours! Even if the tests were picked up immediately after the OP did her test 2 hours is impossible.

OP it will be your LFT. They text you every time you log a result.

ShowOfHands · 10/08/2021 19:34

It does say lateral flow on the text confirming your lft result.

CatAlice · 10/08/2021 19:34

It doesn’t specify lateral flow or pcr. Copied from email

"Your recent coronavirus test has come back positive.

Please enter your result into the NHS COVID-19 app as soon as possible using this code:"

I thought it was the pcr but I have now put the code into the app and it says isolate for 11 days and book another test. So it must be the flow test. Confusing!

Yep, it's the government telling you what you've just told them Hmm

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 10/08/2021 19:40

My PCR test result texts said the same, OP.

No mention of lateral or PCR.

CatAlice · 10/08/2021 19:50

I'll assume it wasn't a world record test turn around and expect the pcr result tomorrow.
I'm joking but actually a bit worried as I am CEV and DH is over 70 so we are both vulnerable. Trying to stay apart for now. Both double varied.

OP posts:
CatAlice · 10/08/2021 19:50

Vaccinated not varied......

When you log a LFT you then get a text as well. The PCR results will normally be the following day

AmberRoseGold · 10/08/2021 19:53

We had the same: turns out for LFT you receive one text if negative but two (with different wording, one of which doesn’t mention LFT at all) if positive. Tomorrow 9ish you will likely receive PCR result. I even rang our doctors to try to work out whether we had super speedy PCR when had result two hours after test! But no, just another weird glitch in system. I hope that the result is negative and that you stay well.

VaguelyInteresting · 10/08/2021 19:53

It literally cannot be your PCR test due to the way in which they process them in this country- unless you did PCR at an actual lab?!

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 10/08/2021 20:01

I hope you have a mild experience, OP.

Do you have space for you and your DH to sleep separately?

CatAlice · 10/08/2021 21:50

@DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo yes we are lucky enough to have plenty of room. He will go in spare bedroom and use different bathroom.
Though I suspect the horse has bolted.

I've just looked back at texts I've had and the ones that read like that with the code to put into the NHS Covid app are for a PCR test.

The texts confirming the LFT info I've just told them state that it's lat flow and don't give the code .

shinynewapple21 · 10/08/2021 22:53

BUT I've only had negative tests so as PP says above it may be different for a positive test

FenceSplinters · 10/08/2021 22:55

That text is for your lateral flow. They send you a text (and sometimes and email too) to tell you exactly what you have just told them.

CatAlice · 10/08/2021 23:02

Yes, I now realise that.
I put the code into the app after I posted on here (in a bit of a tizz). This picture is what the app says. So that's clear.
Neither text nor email said which test it was though.
