Husband and I are isolating as he has a positive PCR (no symptoms) because we had to test after I got a positive LFT. We have since done another PCR each and it’s negative.
We are isolating. We don’t have the NHS app and don’t check in places when out and haven’t been out since last Sunday anyway. Husband got a text to say track and trace venue alert, a venue he checked in at has someone positive for Covid and he should get a test. He hasn’t been anywhere, doesn’t have the app and doesn’t check in anywhere so how is this possible?

Someone gave his mobile number by mistake at the venue (or deliberately to avoid giving their own real one).

There are scam messages doing the rounds too. Is it from an official NHS number?

Ooh maybe! This is why it should only be based on the app or your Bluetooth as they can then prove its you.

The whole thing is an absolute joke and I’m fed up of it!

Yes as it’s the one with our test results!

Very likely to be an error in the process then, OP.

The system doesn't instil confidence, does it.

Samanabanana · 10/08/2021 14:08

Definitely sounds like a mistake then... or someone using a false number which has turned out to he your DH's. I'd ignore and hope you both feel better soon!

It doesn’t give me any confidence! I was already skeptical given one PCR was positive then negative the next day! Thankfully no symptoms and still negative LFT’s. Just want life to go back to normal but given I have awful anxiety, this isn’t helping!

Did you go anywhere that you have to book a table? As the venue might have shared details of anyone who was booked in with test and trace if they were asked to provide details of who was there on a certain date.

I went to nandos on 28th July, so 13 days ago and used his account to pay … could have been that but seems ages ago and just stupid really.

Your husband tested positive, so he caught it somewhere, maybe the text is just late getting through. Some people get told to isolate when there is only a day or two to go. If you had the app you could click on the link to see when the actual date of contact was.

BareVanilla · 10/08/2021 14:21

In the early days of testing you had to give a list of names and numbers of all the people you’ve been with and then those people are notified to get tested. Is that still going on?

Yes but we hadn’t been anywhere so we put no one!

But given he doesn’t check in to places or have the app.. not sure how he was traced!
