What do I do?

On Saturday 31st July I felt really rough at a hen do, I had headache, fever, sickness. Then Sunday I felt rough too so my partner and I both tested using lateral flow and it was negative for me and positive for my partner.

We both started isolating from Sunday 1st august and are still doing so.

I then ordered PCR tests which came Tuesday and my partners was positive and mine was negative.

I felt better thorough out the week too.

Then Sunday just gone felt a bit rough with a cough and fever but no loss of smell or taste.. took a lateral flow today and it was positive so ordered a PCR test.

What on Earth do I do if I got symptoms back then?

Could I have been infected then but it wasn't picking up on tests?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Given that you experienced classic Covid symptoms on 31 July and your partner tested positive for Covid around that time, it seems highly likely that you had Covid at that point and your first lateral flow and PCR tests gave false negative results.

Any idea where you and partner could have caught Covid from a few days prior to the hen party?

Capricorn8990 · 10/08/2021 00:09

@Walesholiday thanks for your input! I did wonder this as I was just tired throughout the week but not symptoms have ramped up a bit

@JanglyBeads he went on a stag do to Newquay from 23rd to 25th July and likely caught it there. He then came home to me and a week later tested positive

Just wait until you get the new PCR test result and continue isolating. I’m afraid if it comes back positive you really ought to isolate 10 days from when you got symptoms on Sunday. Although you think you may have had it earlier with your partner, you cannot be sure. Sorry, hope you start to feel better soon,

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/08/2021 06:35

Have you told the other party guests?

Capricorn8990 · 10/08/2021 06:50

@Mindymomo thanks for your reply. What's worse is that I'm a bridesmaid on Saturday so I don't think I can go of course! It's such bad timing and I'm absolutely gutted x

@MrsSkylerWhite told who sorry? We have told people we were in contact with. Nobody has had any symptoms like us so far

Maybe you had a different virus at the hen do? There are a lot about, because of the reduced mixing until recently - with a child in nursery we've all had a few, none Covid.

You need to isolate from this Sunday, on the assumption you just caught Covid from your partner.

Capricorn8990 · 10/08/2021 06:55

@whatswithtodaytoday I thought that would be the case. My PCR will be arriving today. Hopefully they can livestream the wedding for me

Could be long covid? I have heard of people's symptoms coming back.

FiveMoreMinutesPlease · 10/08/2021 06:56

I had this experience too. Son was positive, I Felt rough, took a test - negative. Got better then felt ill again a few days later and was positive. I isolated from the second time I started feeling symptoms.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/08/2021 06:59

Today 06:50 Capricorn8990

@MrsSkylerWhite told who sorry? We have told people we were in contact with. Nobody has had any symptoms like us so far“

The other people at the hen party. They should test too. Thousands of people are asymptomatic but still infectious.

Capricorn8990 · 10/08/2021 06:59

@Northernsoullover I did think of that to be fair. Maybe! I am just so frustrated with everything and the timings

@FiveMoreMinutesPlease I hope you're feeling better now? Were you isolating for 20 days then?

@MrsSkylerWhite I did but as my symptoms went away and inhale endometriosis I thought it was something to do with my immune system as I often get fevers and diarrhoea with that too

@Capricorn8990 this was over Xmas so I think we ended up isolating from the 23rd to the 8th as it basically went right through our household. Not a great Xmas but we're all fine now.
