Insurance claim for holiday cut short due to Covid

Has anyone claimed for a partially missed holiday due to Covid?

We went away for a week in the UK and on day four ds developed symptoms and tested positive on a PCR.
We isolated for 24 hours pending the result (but also because she wasn't yet well enough to travel) then came home early on day five- thankfully we weren't too far from home. I had written it off but I've now found out our annual travel insurance policy offers cover for curtailment of holiday.
Does anyone have any experience of such claims? The only loss we have is two nights accommodation (which was quite substantial given current prices) but all activities and days out we pre booked were cancelled with a full refund so there isn't any other loss... other than our long awaited family holiday!

If it's likely that we might get a partial refund then I might allow myself to start looking for another short break this year so any experiences would be gratefully received.

I think because you were already on holiday they won’t pay out. A policy I took out for our uk cottage holiday says they will pay out if you cannot travel due to testing positive or isolating due to close contact, there was no mention of paying out for part holiday money.

Thanks. They have a curtailment section on the policy but I have no idea how likely they are to pay out. If they don't it's fine as we weren't really expecting it but if we got a little back it would be a bonus!
