Scotland rule changes

The rules for self isolation change in Scotland from tomorrow (9th august) and double vaccinated people won’t need to self isolate if they have a negative test.
Buuut, does anyone know if the rules are changing in any way for unvaccinated people?

Yes, a negative PCR will release from isolation.

@spongedod

Yes, a negative PCR will release from isolation.
Even if you’ve not had a vaccine?

Yes. That's what you asked.

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 23:04

I thought a negative test only releases fully vaccinated people from isolation. I imagine those not fully vaccinated need to complete the full isolation period

spongedod · 08/08/2021 23:06

Some confusion here.

Fully vaccinated people will not need to isolate as close contacts.

Non vaccinated people will be released for isolating as close contacts if they return a negative PCR.

Its all clear as mud really

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 23:08

Adults identified as close contacts of someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 will also no longer be automatically required to self-isolate for 10 days from 9 August. Anyone who is double-vaccinated with at least two weeks passed since their second dose and who has no symptoms will be able to end self-isolation if they return a negative PCR test. The same conditions will also apply to anyone aged between five and 17 years old, even if they have not been vaccinated. The requirement to take a PCR test will not apply to children under the age of five.

I read it as only vaccinated people can take a pcr to be released and unvaccinated need to isolate
spongedod · 08/08/2021 23:09

Ignore that. It's exactly the same. Negative PCR to release. Sorry: the wording is a bit ambiguous.

It's the same. PCR to release.

spongedod · 08/08/2021 23:11

@dementedpixie

The bit after the bold in your quote says it's the same for unvaccinated.

Sorry I cross posted that's quote with you.

@spongedod

It's the same. PCR to release.

It doesn't say the same for unvaccinated adults; just for unvaccinated children age 5-17 years
spongedod · 08/08/2021 23:14

Oh you are right I have completely misread that Blush

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 23:14

So unvaccinated children age 5-17 and those double vaccinated don't need to isolate if they get a negative PCR.

Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated adults will still need to isolate

spongedod · 08/08/2021 23:16

Yes, you are right!

I probably should just go to bed - that was quite awful of me Blush

Mangomammy · 09/08/2021 10:23

Looks like it’s easy to be confused!
Trying to make sense of if after being woken up to be told I was a contact wasn’t fun.

I was hoping the rules had changes to be shorter isolation/ daily testing to be free or something. Sadly not…

Only if double vaccinated I'm afraid!
