Advice needed re: visitors from France

They arrived in England last week, both double vaccinated but aware they had to isolate for 10 days. However restrictions on visitors from France have been lifted today ... does that mean they can now end their isolation? Presumably yes but can’t find any info.

No, unfortunately not, it only applies to people arriving in the UK from today. Presumably they are still getting phoned from test and trace, if they don't want to take the word of an Internet random they could ask on their daily call.

No they don’t get out of quarantine early unless they throw some more money at it with day 5 test and release. We came back from France last week so are in the same boat.

That seems ridiculous!

If they get another call they will ask

You have to go by the rules that were in place when they arrived, not the rules now.

Presumably they've had several negative tests? I'd be inclined to sack off the isolating now, if so.

Mad isn't it. My friend got back on Saturday from a funeral. She still has to isolate for 10 days, despite people arriving a few hours later not having to. She did try and stay the extra day but couldn't change flights without a huge cost.
