When a (possible?) close contact has had a positive LFT and awaiting results of PCR, how do you play it?

Informed that a contact (someone my kid was in a room with for couple of hours) feels unwell and has positive lateral flow. Awaiting PCR.

Is it reasonable to go about our business pretty much as usual, with perhaps a little more care than usual in terms of distancing from others, mask wearing etc, do daily lateral flow until confirmed and if and when contacted by tracks and trace? No plans to have anyone over to the house next few days anyway but we were due to go out and about

Results of PCR test shouldn't take long, 24 hours perhaps.

If you are going out I would socially distance and wear masks, you probably need to get child to wear a mask when close to others e.g. ice cream queue type thing just in case. Then if PCR +ve you have reduced risk of spread as much as you can.

Masks are more effective in stopping you spreading virus than catching.

Yes also just double checked and from 16/8 isolation wouldn’t be required.

I think I will do daily lateral flow, insist she wears a mask but not do anything further unless contacted by t & t.
