Do I get a pcr?

I've only been living back in the UK for 7 weeks so not totally sure what to do.
Yesterday I started to feel unwell with the symptoms of a bad headache, a very sore throat and an aching neck. Feel pretty grim this morning but no other symptom.
I went online to see what to do about a pcr but I do not have any of the three main symptoms. I am double vaccinated.
Do I just do a lateral flow and if negative carry on as I normally would with a general illness, or would you lie and book a pcr anyway? In country I arrived from any old symptom got you a pcr.

I would get a PCR, headache and sore throat is common in Covid.

I think you can just tick a symptom and book online. They don't quiz you when you get there

YarnOver · 08/08/2021 06:47

You don't need to for what you've said so I wouldn't bother.

I would get a PCR to be on the safe side.

SquashMinusIsShit · 08/08/2021 06:54

I'd get a PCR also. The list.of symptoms is woefully out of date

Yes as another poster said these are classic symptoms. You could tick one of the symptoms online to book a PCR.

lannistunut · 08/08/2021 07:15

The country you have come from is correct, UK has had the wrong symptoms forever, it is a way of keeping testing down.

I wish the UK was doing this properly.

As PP have said, if you do opt for a PCR, you will be able to access one by ticking 'temperature' - unlike in contries handling this properly there is no medical oversight at all.

Thanks all I'll book one shortly

It's silly but here loads of people lie to get the test basically. At one point they told everyone to get one if they felt unwell but backtracked on that. Good luck with your test.

Thanks. Seems bizarre they haven't updated the symptom list of these are common.
