New style LFTs

Got some new style LFTs, only have to do both nostrils and wait 15 mins. Less messing around with buffer solution so great for the less dextrous.

Are they more accurate does anyone know? Or are they just making them fancier so they can justify it if they decide to charge us.

They are easier aren’t they. Just need to time the one minute in the solution and the 15 min waiting very carefully.

Not sure about accuracy but I would imagine for younger children they must be as only have to do nose so less risk of invalidating it.

Pompoms1 · 07/08/2021 21:47

Where did you get these? My pharmacy still had the usual
Ones.

Potatoy · 07/08/2021 21:48

Ah I got sent postal ones. Always gagged doing the other ones.

Yes a little fiddly getting the lid off the vial carefully but easier for me than the twisting things. And fewer plastic bits to lose on the floor.

The holder thing? I kept that. Better than the massive bit of cardboard.

I've been using a shot glass up til now. Which feels strangely inappropriate.

IsabellesMissingSock · 07/08/2021 22:10

Yeah I prefer them definitely.

SleepyMathematician · 08/08/2021 00:26

I like them much better to actually do but there’s so much more single use plastic. The environmental waste was what struck me most.

Pompoms1 · 08/08/2021 06:06

I just ordered On my way! LFTS from the gov website. Are they likely to be the new one? It didn’t say!

I'm not sure, I guess it depends if they all come from the same place/have used up their old stock.

I guess it's hard to get a balance between making them easier to use and environmental waste. Maybe they could have two versions, a basic version with as little plastic as possible and one for those who struggle to use that one.
