Confusing results

No symptoms. Positive LFT for work.. husband had negative LFT. Both went to have PCR’s and one positive and one negative but we stupidly aren’t sure whose was whose as mixed bags up in car!

Did PCR again which came back today both negative!

Obviously told to isolate and will but why are the results so confusing? Also getting negative LFT’s every day and we have no symptoms. Just feels like the whole system is floored!!

We had this. DD2 had spent time with friends who tested positive, although she was not contacted by T&T and had no symptoms she was still worried, even though she took 8 LFTs over 2 days and all negative. I took her for a PCR purely to set her mind at rest never in a million years thinking it would actually come back positive which it did Confused. Our whole household went for PCRs the following day and we were ALL negative inc DD2! We have just completed our 10 days self isolation and none of us has developed symptoms or had a positive LFT at any point. So I'm pretty certain there was an error with DD2's first PCR! Very odd indeed.

It’s so infuriating isn’t it! Either that or we have had it so mildly it was detected once and not the next day! Doesn’t make me trust in the system much!

In fact the last 10 days have been been a complete nightmare as DD1 developed a serious illness (not covid related) and had to be admitted to hospital and we weren't able to go with her or visit her due to the self isolation, despite all subsequent PCRs being negative. DD1 was tested in hospital as well and also negative. It's been a living nightmare.

SpringRainbow · 07/08/2021 12:34

Is it possible that the positive results were the ‘tail end’ of the virus.

One of you was positive but you tested towards the end of the infection?

I have no other explanation really Confused

Unless the positive tests were wrong/ faulty.

I hope she gets better soon.

Oh god I am so sorry to hear that! This is another reason bloody Covid is so unfair. I hope she’s ok now?

Yes maybe.

If only one LFT or PCR was positive I’d assume faulty test but two is unlikely. Very annoying either way! Although grateful we are ok for now.

Omg, I literally just made a post about this! We've been told positive, negative and even been given negative results for tests we didn't even take!! LFs are positive, PCR negative and then we get texts and emails telling us certain people are positive, but we've already received negative results from the same test! DD has classic symptoms, she's the only one who has tested consistently negative! So damn confused. Something is going very wrong somewhere

You have to take a few things into account

Viral load at the time and doing the test correctly.

A colleague knew they had contact and sensibly kept clear of us at home . Negative LFT. Negative PCR Then symptoms kicked in .and both tests were then positive.

True it just frustrating how unpredictable and worrying it all is, especially as I have health anxiety but hopefully we all remain ok and it’s been in the house but we’ve been alright so far!

Possible the positive was at the end of the virus hence negative now. You’ll never know

ImInACage · 07/08/2021 18:52

I've had similar, faint line on LFT, so went for PCR. Three days after the test I had the results, which were negative, but half an hour later had another email and text to say positive. All my details were the same. 119 said to treat it as positive. My gp only received the negative result. We isolated you be on the safe side.

This suddenly seems to be happening to a few people.

It is so odd.

FuckingFabulous · 07/08/2021 19:36

Has happened to me! Got a negative last night and a positive this morning from the same test!

Eilatan2018 · 07/08/2021 19:43

Who knows what to believe?! My LFT was so faint I nearly ignored it but husband had a migraine which I think totally unrelated but encouraged me to get PCR!

I agree with barbs possibly your dc was positive first and gave it to her friend.

FuckingFabulous · 08/08/2021 10:35

My DH's colleague has just tested positive by PCR and then got an email this morning telling him his recent test was negative
