Someone cancelled their second booking using my details

I received a text around 6pm from NHS booking to confirm that my 2nd vaccine appointment had been cancelled. I was initially filled with dread because I have my second one coming up next week and just want to get it over with. Then I checked the details and saw it wasn't mine, someone in Derbyshire (nowhere near to me) had cancelled their appointment and entered my number for the confirmation. I didn't find it strange because it is easy to get phone numbers wrong by one digit. I later checked my emails and saw I had received the same confirmation sent to me as an email. This threw me off completely because I have an uncommon name even by South Asian standards, and my email contains my name.
So someone had managed to use my phone number and email address to cancel their own appointment? Wouldn't they have needed to use the same details when booking them in the first place, in which case I didn't receive the random confirmation for?
I called 119 to chase up and the staff couldn't have been less bothered about it if he tried. He answered the call with "yeah what's up?" and his response to the situation was "I'm sure they'll realise they've put the wrong details in" and then hung up.
I'm just very confused by this and hoping someone doesn't somehow end up cancelling my own booking Confused

I'd call 119 again and hope someone with sense answers...

@Myalternate I'll try again in the morning, I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that he was tired after a long day!

We had pcr tests last sun and had text confirming negative on monday , then randomly I got another two text messages last night saying our tests from the 2nd ( day after we went) were negative , I assumed its just a glitch ? Could this be similar , def call back

Sounds like it could be a scam text

I’d assume someone at the vac centre has used people’s details incorrectly or a mail merge error has occurred.

It sound like an error with the vaccine admin wherever that is rather than someone having your details, they do make errors as DH and I both had texts with wrong appointment times and days. Have you checked that your appointment is still there on the online system

That makes me feel a bit better, the thought of someone using my details made me feel panicky. Yes my booking is still there Smile I'll give them a call just to let them know about the admin error.

Yes definitely ring up as it is worrying and they should check it out, I didn't ring with my error as it didn't involve my personal details but I did print off the appointment page in case there was any problem at the vax centre with the times

I've called up to let them know, she was fully alert and tried to help at least but said it wouldn't be an admin error but someone using a wrong letter and number and ending up with my number and email Confused not sure how that works but I suppose they wouldn't want to admit to an error on their part.
