Covid App - this probably explains a lot

I was shocked to see that the Covid app has been alerting people who have been in contact with a positive case 5 days previously.

This could probably explain some of the alerts people had been getting where they can’t work out where the contact has come from.

It’s surprised me because I assumed it was within 48 hours, like all other contacts?!

I thought this was common knowledge?

Within 48 hours would only work if the infected person got tested and received the result within 48 hours. But of course this us often not the case.

My husband got pinged 9 days after. Ping at 11am to isolate until midnight the same day. He did dutifully come home from work but we didn't take it terribly seriously, I have to say.

This sort of bollocks is why some of us have deleted the app rather than risk being caught up in the pingdemic.

The time frame for the contact is still 48 hours but there is a delay with the notification as it takes time for someone to have a test, get results and add them to the app.

@nordica you can see the contact date on your app and it goes as far back as 10 days.
