Mild symptoms - is ibuprofen ok

Did ‘they’ say early last year something about not taking ibuprofen for COVID? I can’t find it now. NHS says treat at home with paracetamol or ibuprofen. Anyone know what the issue with ibuprofen was please? No paracetamol in the house, but reluctant to give ibuprofen if it’ll make things worse.

There are issues with ibuprofen if you are asthmatic and I think in the early days, they wanted us away from ibuprofen because covid was affecting the respiratory system. At some point, there was a news item saying it was fine to use. So I would be cautious if you have existing issues but should be fine otherwise.

The ibuprofen thing was a theory/precaution from one french dr before we knew much about covid that grew arms and legs and people started stating as fact. As long as you're normally fine with ibuprofen it's fine to take.

Totally fine

Thanks all.

Why would you accept the word of random people with no qualifications online over that of the NHS which is offical information?

Ibuprofen was the only thing I took when I had Covid

HummingBeeBox · 30/07/2021 21:32

Ibuprofen came up with regards to the vaccine as it is an anti inflammatory which you don't want with a vaccine as it can impede its effectiveness.

I thought Ibuprofen can thin the blood. Paracetamol is better I believe

RoseRedRoseBlue · 31/07/2021 01:42

Yes, each to their own. I can’t bear aspirin or paracetamol so ibuprofen is my ‘’go to’ for everything. I took more of it when I had Covid than I have done in the last 3 years.

Don’t take to many Ibuprofen,it can cause long term kidney damage and don’t take them at all if you already have kidney problems.
