Apologies if I’m being dim, I haven’t totally followed every inch of guidance changes, but is track and trace in restaurants still a thing? I’ve been holding off going for not wanting to be pinged!

Do yu men scanning the QR code at the entrance? No, you don't have to do that anymore. Nowhere very local to me (North London) even has the signage out for that. The app itself isn't mandatory anyway.

Sparklingbrook · 30/07/2021 06:53

Around here you can if you want to but no requirement to do so.

Mindymomo · 30/07/2021 06:55

We’ve never had it, the places we have been in, not many tbh, we’ve been given slips of paper to put our name and number on it, or given number on entrance.

Depends on the restaurant whether they're still doing it.

But notifications to isolate don't arise from checking in at a restaurant, either via the app or by leaving your details. If a positive case is connected with the restaurant, you were simply informed so you could take extra care, test etc. Being pinged by the app and told to isolate comes from the contact tracing element of it, so only works if you've got both contact tracing and Bluetooth switched on.

I went to a cafe on Saturday and there was a sign asking you to check in with the app or leave your details. I didn't do either and wasn't challenged.

It is in Scotland so depends on your part of the uk

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/07/2021 07:44

I've been on a UK holiday so been in restaurants all week (England). Not been asked to do T&T anywhere bar one place that asked me to put my name and phone number on a form.

Yutes · 30/07/2021 07:46

It’s still a thing in Scotland, but I have ate at a few restaurants and not been pinged at all

QueenofKattegat · 30/07/2021 07:48

Haven't been asked to do it anywhere over the last week or so, but a lot of places still have the QR code there to scan if you want to.

User56439876 · 30/07/2021 08:12

QR code seems to have disappeared from our M&S cafe, there was an optional one at a National Trust cafe

Did they also note the time of your visit and table position on the form?

I would hope so otherwise what's the point. You could have visited for lunch whereas a whole family who later tested positive may have been for dinner and sat at the opposite side of the restaurant!

gogohm · 30/07/2021 08:21

Not a requirement but if you have a booking they could pass on your details to track and trace if required.
