Holiday confusion

Sweetbabyrays · 29/07/2021 09:54

I’m so bloody confused with testing etc for holidays. So Spain is the destination. Myself and husband both double jabbed. I worry about testing positive out there and getting stuck, I know the chances are slim!
My friend is saying from 16th Aug you don’t need to test to come back, is this correct. I’ve looked on the gov website and various other an can’t see anything. I desperately want a holiday but can’t seem to find the info I need. I know worrying about testing positive before we leave will ruin the holiday for me and I can’t afford to be stuck in spain!!!

No, that’s not true. In fact there’s a good chance that Spain is going on the Amber Plus list so you’ll have to quarantine when you back as well as take the tests.

This is generally updated in real time.

As of today, you still need antigen test to re-enter UK even if double-vaccinated

Imfedupwithallofthis · 29/07/2021 10:06

If Spain remains on Amber list, your friend is correct. If double vaxed + 2 weeks, you will be exempt from isolation from 16 August.

If it goes to Amber plus or Red, you will have to isolate or quarantine.

Time will tell, it is a changing situation.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 29/07/2021 10:08

Sorry, I didn't answer your question, getting confused!

rookiemere · 29/07/2021 10:09

You still need a lateral flow test to get back and I suspect that will be in place for quite a while. Some insurance will cover costs but it's very unclear if they'd cover everything.

Kate3150 · 29/07/2021 10:18

When’s the next update? X

Kate3150 · 29/07/2021 10:18

On holidays I mean

Geamhradh · 29/07/2021 10:24

There's another thread this morning with a poster in Spain whose husband tested positive while out there and they are having to obviously isolate- the insurance for extra stay didn't cover all of them (possibly the person infected only iirc) and they are having to pay another £80 a night b

Geamhradh · 29/07/2021 10:25

@Kate3150

On holidays I mean
Depends on the country.
Backin · 29/07/2021 10:52

@Geamhradh can you link to the thread about holidaymaker testing positive in Spain & insurance please?

Geamhradh · 29/07/2021 10:55

Let me find it, hang on.

Sweetbabyrays · 29/07/2021 11:21

Thanks all. All so bloody confusing isn’t it! So wait to see what happens on the 16th then. Definitely not going anywhere that is amber plus. So off putting isn’t it!

I know! I change my mind a hundred times a day. It's why I'm on all these threads 🤣

To return from Spain you need a LFT to get on the plane and a PCR test within 2 days of return.

EmmaStone · 29/07/2021 12:49

We came back from Majorca on Sunday - our unjabbed teens needed a PCR test 48 hours before arrival in Spain, but double vaxxed adults didn't need anything other than Spanish passenger locator form.

No more than 3 days before return to the UK we all needed LFTs (we did these in our hotel, cost €30 each).

Needed to have Day 2 PCR tests booked to complete our passenger locator form for return to UK.

BUT, info keeps changing, so just keep researching!
