Positive LFT tests

My son is 14 he complained of a sore throat today, we have loads of LFT tests so i tested him it came up positive straight away
My dh was sceptical but another two tests have confimed its positive albeit the other too are fainter lines
I have sent off for a PCR test
Can i assume that Ds is positive? Myself and dh have had negative results, we are self isolating anyway, and will continue to do so just wondered if anyone has had positive LFT tests and tested negative on PCR?
Im clutching at straws,

I had a positive LFT, confirmed with PCR. Miraculously have not passed it on to family!

x2boys · 28/07/2021 20:28

Dh and i are currently negative, both fully vaccinated
Im slightly concerned as my dh is classed as CEV, we also live in a very small house but DS is, keeping to his room as much as possible fingers crossed he doesnt pass it on.

Unless he had just had something very acidic when you did the test, there is a very large chance he is positive.

x2boys · 28/07/2021 20:32

No he didnt, he finished school on friday, im assuming he picked it up at school, but we did go swimming yesterday, but he tested positive less than 24 hrs after swimming.

Positive is positive, get him to isolate in his room and sanitise everything he touches en route to the bathroom.

T&T assume positive with LFTs, they did with mine , even before my PCR.

SirB0bby · 29/07/2021 23:36

My son and his girlfriend both did a LFT. She was positive and he was negative (they did another test each, same result). Their PCR test showed she is negative and he is positive. Bizarre!

x2boys · 31/07/2021 09:04

His PCR test came back positive 😭

Fingers crossed he is ok.

I know of at least 6 positive LFT that have returned a negative PCR.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 31/07/2021 17:27

SirBobby - could they have mixed up the lateral flow tests? It’s easily done when scanning them…

SirB0bby · 31/07/2021 18:52

@GhoulWithADragonTattoo they did two lateral flow test, same results each time. They said they possibly mixed up the pcr tests but he has felt rough (cough, sore throat and blocked up). Maybe her PCR was wrong.🤷‍♀️

My dc sore throat to swallow stuffy nose LF immediately positive PCR confirmed we all double jabs so we didn’t catch it !

Smallkeys · 31/07/2021 18:56

Oh just read the update !

We had this with my dc - sore throat and then tested positive on LFT and then PCR. Isolated in room, used a separate bathroom, we kept windows and outside doors open as much as possible and internal doors closed. We also left food outside the room and wore a mask if leaving the room to use the bathroom or go in the garden. The rest of the family all stayed negative luckily.
