Positive LFT's - Negative PCR

I have been using LFTs for asymptomatic testing for a while now and have always had negative results.
Sunday morning took a LFT and it had a faint but visible positive, did another LFT from a different box straight after and also had a faint positive - booked PCR test for the following day.
Started feeling unwell in the meantime while awaiting PCR results and just out of interest did another LFT which again was faintly positive.

PCR result is negative. Does the negative PCR outweigh 3 positive LFT's and therefore the need to isolate? Has this happened to anyone else or what would you do?

I would stay isolated and maybe do another PCR test, as you have symptoms. The PCR does outway the LFT, but seeing as you have symptoms, maybe you tested too early.

Following with interest. I’ve had 2 positive LFT and 2 negative. Going for a PCR this morning

I had some symptoms start before I had the pcr test done Confused

I will be remaining isolated anyway for now because I'm unwell with whatever I have regardless and I may do another PCR test just to confirm.

I've had four positive LFTs followed by negative PCRs

FTMworrier · 28/07/2021 11:03

@daphnedoo12 what do you do in this instance? Continue to isolate?

Darbs76 · 28/07/2021 14:02

I’d continue to isolate and do another PCR

I had exactly this too, but 3 x negative PCRs over the duration of my 5 positive LFTs pointed to the LFT picking up that 1 in a thousand big that wasn't covid but registered positive on an lft. The positive LFTs matched me feeling unwell and came from at least 3 different batches so I'm as certain as I can be that they were true positives (albeit faint)

I've ordered a PCR home kit to do another PCR because I feel too unwell to go to travel to the test centre and given how unwell I now feel and the positive LFTs, I feel it would be wise to check again.

Other illnesses exist. And shouldn’t be spread either so you’d do well to stay in anyway until you feel better as planned. Sounds likely that your next test will be positive though. Get well
Soon.
(Are you vaccinated? Worrying how unwell some people who are vaccinated seem to be getting)

Double vaccinated but it will only be 14 days from second vaccination tomorrow so I probably don't have full protection from it yet but young, under 30 and otherwise fit and healthy.

i m not sure how those tests work as getting more and more confused.

My DD tested positive on Sat (Pcr), all her lateral flows are negative, yesterday she did another PCR and it's negative.
No symptoms.

so which test correct??
was the first pcr one wrong?

everything need to be taken with pinch of salt

We had a case at work . First LFT and pcr negative . No symptoms but had been in contact with someone with covid . Then another LFT which was positive and a NCR positive . So as soon as he had symptoms the tests worked . One jab . Young person . Feeling pretty rough .
