Day 2 & Day 8 Tests

I'm on my way back to the UK from abroad and I've booked my Day 2 test as required. I don't have to isolate. They checked my passenger locator form and that I've booked the day 2 test. Is anyone actually checking that people are taking the day 2 and day 8 tests? Where are they reported to and what happens if you don't take the test?

@MercyBooth Thanks. I'm at the airport now traveling home so I understand all the rules etc, just wondering if anyone is actually policing the day 2 & 8 tests. I'm obviously going to do it but, what happens if you don't?

@gigi556 I think they do them more to keep a handle on variants. I believe they sequence any positive results. I know people who have travelled in and out. Occasionally the tests don’t arrive on time or don’t arrive at all. No repercussions.

Have just been looking into this for a short trip to Greece in August. Cannot believe how expensive the tests are. Shame on the government for allowing this to happen, but not surprised. Understand the need for testing but should be a flat rate.

@Blessex Thanks. That's really what I was wondering as I was a little worried about test arriving or getting my results back etc.
