Thoughts - aqua fit

I’ve rejoined the gym in May when they reopened. I’ve been going to the aqua fit classes.

Since last Monday they have increased the capacity of the classes. I’m ok with this, as there is still some room to move about with people in two rows. Today the instructor had us all lined up and running across the pool width ways. So people were repeatedly passing one another at close distance.

I’m double jabbed and appreciate that all legal restrictions have been lifted but we are in the area of the country with the highest cases. I just think that it isn’t the greatest idea to have everyone running past one another repeatedly when we could all exercise on the spot (as we usually do) and maintain some distance.

Am I being ridiculous? I just think it’s asking for increased infections and potentially shutting the gym down. Most of the people on the class are over 60.

I think it’s just something you are going to have to get used to, capacity will be increasing at all venues, classes etc. and if you aren’t comfortable you will have to just not go, but as you are double jabbed your situation isn’t really going to get any better in terms of protection. You can’t put your life and things you enjoy on hold indefinitely so just go and try not to think about it. I have been in gym classes since they reopened and haven’t felt nervous even with increased capacity and the benefit to my mental and physical health outweighs any covid risks in my opinion.

Agree with @Katie517 that if it makes you uncomfortable then you can choose not to go but the gyms etc are going to be desperate to claw back some income after months of being closed so if they’re allowed they will obviously want as many attendees as possible.

I’m ok with the amount of attendees. It’s the running right past each other that I think is not a sensible thing to do. Especially when we didn’t do this pre covid.

Chlorine kills the virus op your in the safest place, that why the leisure was allowed to open earlier the second time.

If you don't feel safe, don't go. Realistically, if you don't have a problem with the amount of attendees then it shouldn't matter if you pass by each other either. It's an airborne virus that can travel beyond 6 feet. Presumably you all share changing facilities and toilets too. If you're gonna get it you're gonna get it regardless. Accept the risk or don't.
