Testing abroad for Return to UK

Hello, Mum is travelling to Spain as sadly a family member is coming to end of life, Mum is double vaccinated.

Now, I know she needs to test to return to the UK, but does that mean I need to find her a clinic there when she is ready to come back? If she buys a test to return kit in the Uk, how does she post to get results?

Thanks in advance

I’ve just returned from overseas and you only need an antigen (lateral flow) test to come back so you can buy them over here to take with you and book a video appointment to be supervised doing the test and get the certificate emailed to you. We used breathe assured who are recommended by Ryanair

I think Spain is one of the easiest places to find testing places on the ground- lots of the threads in Holidays are about people doing them. I'll try and find one of the threads.

@Littleone638 - so you can see the test result yourself and they can see it too, then they email you straight away? That sounds like a plan! Thank you

We're getting lateral flows done at the airport before we leave. The results are quick so should be ok.

@fiestasprimavera yes exactly that. There are various companies who offer it but I would say check what their cancellation policy is, we chose the one we did because we could change the appointment up to 12 hours before, which may be useful for your mum given the circumstances.

We are here now. Booked our antigen tests this morning for wed am, flight back is Thursday. Just walk in to any local medical centre, there are loads of them doing them. Test there and then (supervised) and result and certificate to fly within 20 mins
