What is everyone's experience of the incubation period of covid, particularly the Delta variant?
My 1 year old is on day 8 of symptoms. No one else in the house is ill, I am wondering if we might have been lucky or do you think there is still time for symptoms to show. I heard the incubation of delta variant is more like 3 days?

I’m not sure on the answer to your question, but what symptoms did your 1 year old get? And did their LFT/PCR actually test positive?

Started with being clammy, off her food, miserable, vomited, funny nappy etc
Day 2 came out in a rash
Day 4 started with a horrendous cough. Tested positive PCR

I was listening to a virology video last night and apparently the Delta variants 'reproductive time' is shorter than that of the original Alpha. Time from exposure to testing PCR positive was 4 days for Delta compared to 6 days for the original Alpha. At day 4 you are already infectious enough to pass on to the next person. So by the time someone tests positive they are already infectious enough to pass on the virus.

Hope that makes sense!
