5 days into Covid

I'm mid 30s, no underlying conditions and in good health and it's thankfully not much worse than a normal cold (I've had 1 Pfizer jab). I've got body aches, fatigue, fever of about 38.5 at night but it's usually fine during the day and hardly a cough or sore throat. The worst is actually the sinus congestion which I didn't even think would be Covid.

Husband is also positive but he's had 2 jabs and he's symptomless.

I'm wondering how long do I wait before I get my second jab now? It's scheduled for this Friday but I'm wondering if I should delay it more

You have to wait 28 days I believe

QueenStromba · 24/07/2021 17:47

Yep, 28 days.

FedNlanders · 24/07/2021 22:42

You have my sympathy, I currently have covid...and I have been super careful, this does not feel like anything else, ever. I was convinced I'd be ok if I got it as I'm only 34 and relatively healthy well OMG I feel awful.

Darbs76 · 24/07/2021 22:53

I’m on day 10 and feel shocking today. A step backwards. I have a lot of congestion in my chest, but not coughing now so not sure how to clear it!

I’m double jabbed but I believe you need to wait 28 days now

CrocodilesCry · 24/07/2021 23:09

Glad you're not feeling too bad. As has been said you'll need to postpone your second jab.

An unvaccinated friend is also on day 5 - he's been in bed for four of them, same age as you and incredibly fit. He's wishing he had the vaccine.

AddsVsGeorgs · 25/07/2021 01:24

4 weeks

FedNlanders · 25/07/2021 12:18

I'm double vaccined. Had 2nd jab in March. My chest feels so so bad.

OrangeBananaFish · 25/07/2021 12:33

I'm in the same position as you. I was supposed to have my second jab yesterday, but tested positive on Monday. So far I've had to cancel the jab, but can't rebook yet as can only see appointments up to 8th August.

I felt bad on Mon and Tues with headaches, muscle aches, tiredness and sore throat and only have had mild symptoms since. I got my sense of smell back today, which might not necessarily be a good thing (I've certainly not missed the dog farts)

Blueisnotmyfavouritecolour · 25/07/2021 12:42

I'm 35 single jabbed and on day two, I feel ok in myself no sense on taste or smell I'm a little bit chesty but also had a chest infection nearly 2 weeks ago.
I'm really hoping the symptoms don't get any worse.

pinkgin85 · 27/07/2021 22:25

Just checked this thread today and saw all the responses. I hope all of you suffering are doing okay.
Tomorrow will be day 10 for me since symptoms started and I don't feel too bad. I havnt had a temperature for the last 2 nights thankfully and am getting my energy back as well. I have a mild cough still but I've had way worse coughs with other viruses.

I've been taking lots of vitamin D, C and Manuka honey to help my immune system along.

The only thing is my 18 month old got it, he had a temp for about 3 days and today his fever was gone but he's come out in some kind of rash on his chest...I've read it's common in children but just trying to keep an eye on him and see how he gets on.

It's an awful bug and I would urge everyone to please get vaccinated.

Oh! I did lose my sense of smell on day 4 and it's still not back Sad

It’s 28 days. My son has had to wait for his first one after we all got covid just over a month ago. Both myself and DH double jabbed. Okay now but definitely felt rough for 4/5 days and still a bit tired. Usually easily bored and want to be up and out for a walk but still can’t be bothered. Smell now back thank goodness. That was weird.

Blueisnotmyfavouritecolour · 27/07/2021 23:37

@pinkgin85 Glad you're feeling better, I still feel pretty much the same although very tired felt absolutely awful after I had a bath today though, it felt as if I'd lost all my senses and was very faint.

I've still also not got my taste or smell back, which is actually worse than anything else as it feels like I'm constantly hungry as I can't taste my food so feeling very unsatisfied Grin

Thank you for checking. Much better today but exhausted, no smell either.

Back2Black · 28/07/2021 05:26

I didnt know you had to wait 28 days, the nurse didn't mention anything when I had my second vaccination on day 15 of covid!
She just advised that I keep hydrated when I said I was still feeling ill.

OrangeBananaFish · 28/07/2021 07:24

@FedNlanders I'm not too bad thanks. Been testing negative the last few days, but wake up with a splitting head every morning. Painkillers do their trick, but I could do without it TBH. Back to work tomorrow, not sure how I feel about that. My mental health needs it, but I'm not sure about my physical health and the headaches

wecarryon · 28/07/2021 08:11

Also didn’t know you had to wait 28 days so thank you for starting this thread!
Day 3 here and feeling pretty damn awful. 25, fit and well, 1 dose of Pfizer. Temp was at 40 for some of yesterday, down to 39.3 with paracetamol. Headache, fatigue and tight chest, it’s not pleasant. Hope you all feel better soon x

bumbleymummy · 28/07/2021 08:51

Infection also provides immunity. In some countries you’d be assumed immune for 6- 9 months after recovery.
