Do I need to isolate?

Hi all,

Just want some confirmation because I'm not sure what the rules are. I saw someone on Thursday morning and they've just contacted me to say they've tested positive. Do I need to isolate as it's been over 48 hours or do I assume they probably had it when I saw them?

They have no symptoms but their partner did and tested positive so they tested just to be sure either way.

Thank you!

wont they have to tell contact tracing who will contact you

If they've had a PCR result back they must have tested yesterday which was within 48 hours of your last contact. In that case you definitely need to isolate. If it's a lateral flow that they've just taken then theoretically you might not though seems a bit close for comfort to me.

When did they do the test? It'll be 48 hours from test taken time as they had no symptoms.

So you might need to or not depending on how long their result took.

Even if you don't I'd still be careful about visiting anyone vulnerable etc

Legally, you don't have to do anything until you are contacted by the authorities.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 24/07/2021 17:24

how close were you to them?

I don't think I'll be contacted by T&T. I've taken a LFT and it's negative but I think the safest thing to do is isolate. Luckily myself and everyone I would have contact with are double vaccinated but it's not worth the risk. Thankfully day 10 is the day before the holiday so fingers crossed nothing develops before then...
