Is a PCR test needed?

Child has a streaming cold and sore throat. No temperature, no cough, no loss of seamed of taste/smell. Looking at the ‘booking a PCR’ test info on the gov website, he doesn’t have the symptoms. But should he have a PCR test? He had one 4 days ago as part of the ONS study.

I personally wouldn't.

Lazypuppy · 24/07/2021 09:06

I wouldn't, he doesn't have the symptoms, why would you want to risk having to isolate?

Hermanfromguesswho · 24/07/2021 09:06

No. Especially if he had one only 4 days ago

Sore throat and runny nose are symptoms of the delta variant.
I tested yesterday because of a sore throat after having a negative test on Monday. Lateral flows were all negative. PCR positive this morning.

Yes. They’re the delta symptoms.
