Hey all, so I've just finished work and had a very funny feeling that I had covid as I can't taste anything and have a very blocked nose, been feeling a bit rough all day but also had a chest infection last week so put down.
I took a two tests last week both negative, anyway I've come home this evening and have tested positive.

Obviously I know that I'll now have to isolate, but that means missing work. So I was wondering if anyone knew if I'm eligible for the £500 payment if I've not been contacted by track and trace?

It's going to be hard to lose 2 weeks pay right ontop of the summer holidays.

Test and trace should contact you in the next day or two but if you’re on a low income (can’t recall the threshold) you should be eligible x

Luckymummytoone · 24/07/2021 02:02

Hope you recover quick x

DumplingsAndStew · 24/07/2021 02:03

I'm assuming you've tested with an LFT if your results were so quick.

First step is to take a PCR test.

pp is right you need a PCR test. When you test positive by PCR you get an account number, T&T contact you to gather info on anyone you have been in contact with 2 days before your symptoms start as they will need to isolate.

You will need the account number from T&T if you apply for the. £500 T&T support payment.

Blueisnotmyfavouritecolour · 24/07/2021 02:13

Yes I done a LFT and have booked a PCR for tomorrow.

I wasn't pinged by track and trace I've just an at home test, which is what's confusing me.
As google is saying I will only get it if I've been flagged by track and trace.

Oh god it's a bloody nightmare.
I do feel a bit scared as I also have asthma, but I don't currently feel bad so hoping it doesn't get any worse.

T&T won’t know you’ve tested positive until the results of the pcr test are in, it’s nothing to do with the app or being pinged.
T&T have no way of knowing your home LFT was positive.
So unfortunately you’ll have to wait for the results of your pcr test to apply for the payment.

Try not to worry - have you had any vaccines?

Rest up, plenty of liquids - call 111 if worried at anytime.
Hope you feel better soon.

Luckymummytoone · 24/07/2021 02:20

Ah yes they won’t contact you until your PCR result, but the criteria should be on your councils website.
My child has asthma and a few others I know and their chest wasn’t affected at all so try not to worry 💐

Blueisnotmyfavouritecolour · 24/07/2021 02:26

Sorry I'm being a bit dim.
I haven't used the T&T app to scan in anywhere, so after having my PCR test will they still contact me?

And thank you for the well wishes, I'm trying not worry. I've had one vaccine and theres no chance of rest with two DC off school.

If you dona PCR test and it’s positive, you should then be given a code to put into the app so the app knows your result.

I admit I’m not sure what happens after that because I haven’t experienced it but I hope that little bit of info helps.

I hope it means you then get the financial help.

ChristmasCovid · 24/07/2021 02:32

When you book your test you fill out the info online or call 119 and they do it for you - if the result is positive you are sent the account number from T&T
You are asked to fill in a link detailing your contacts- if this isn’t done T&T will call you for you to do it over the phone.
It’s the account I’d from the positive pcr you need to claim the payment.

Realitea · 24/07/2021 07:43

OP, track and trace are separate to the app. You’ll get a call from them. For my son it was two days after testing positive. They get your details from when you registered your test.
You’ll get a code which you give to the council on their form to claim the grant and the grants are paid swiftly if you meet their criteria
Mainly you just have to prove you can’t work from home and you’ve lost earnings from isolating

wjg65ka · 24/07/2021 08:01

As soon as you get a PCR you will get contacted by track and trace, they explain what to do going forward and they'll send a link to support including the £500 payment and how to apply via your local council.

If you've had a positive LFT you need to register your positive test on the app or the government website. They'll then ask you to follow up with a PCR.

Good luck op and I hope you feel better soon x

anastasiakrupnik · 24/07/2021 08:54

Have you registered the lft result?

Blueisnotmyfavouritecolour · 24/07/2021 09:52

I think the £500 payment is only if you are on a low income-do you think your salary would be classed as that?
