Do we have to extend isolation?

We have had covid in the family. Those of us who have had covid are allowed out on 27th. However one of the kids looks like they might be coming down with it. Assuming they test positive, do those of us who have literally just had and recovered from covid have to extend our isolation?

My 14 year old tested positive early hours and track and trace called me today.
She told me we are allowed out from 2nd august, even if anyone else tests positive, only the person who newly tests positive has to start 10 day isolation again. The rest of you can stop isolating.
She said they changed the rules because bigger families could end up isolating for weeks and weeks.
She also said, not to retest after 10 day isolation as you can continue to test positive for up to 90 days

I hope this made sense 🙂

No, as long as they get ill before the 27th

Minnie16889 · 23/07/2021 20:38

When i say you can stop isolating, i mean on the day you are supposed to from original positive case

Theunamedcat · 23/07/2021 20:39

No you finish yours they start there's

Well the original positive case stopped having to isolate last night at midnight. So I am happy to keep her in with the rest of us until 27th, but it's a shame to keep her in until 3rd August
We went into isolation on 11th July!

This is a big problem with Delta in larger families.

I'm na stickler for the rules but I'd tell T&T your last DC started feeling sick yesterday and just keep them in an extra day from when they tell you to end her isolation.

Good idea Queen.

Am I correct in thinking a few months ago the rules were unless you test positive, in which case isolation ends in 10 days, the whole family had to isolate until 10 days from the last person getting symptoms?

And now they have changed the rules that everyone can be released on day 10 if they remain negative? Anyone positive starts the 10 days from from symptoms?

dementedpixie · 23/07/2021 21:27

No, isolation has always been able to stop with no extension for those that remained negative. It was the same when isolation was originally 14 days

dementedpixie · 23/07/2021 21:31

Original graphic is from 1 year ago when isolation for family was 14 days. The 2nd is when it got reduced to 10 days

Do we have to extend isolation?

This is the very reason my daughters class bubble had to isolate
