Just under 50% vaccinated
99.5% deaths unvaccinated people
97% hospitalizations unvaccinated people
Delta is the dominant strain but not as high as in UK

In England
60% of hospitalizations aren't double jabbed (so 40% have had one or two jabs)

Is this difference because many over 40s in England were vaccinated with AZ rather than mRNA vaccines?

Yet there are no up to date numbers to confirm this. They say "at this point" but include stats from back in January, when hardly anyone was vaccinated, in the data they present as proof. I find it hard to believe that the US number of vaccinated patients and hospitalisations is so different than the rest of the world.

It’s not my reasoning @FromEden, we’re talking about an insurance companies take on it.

Who is 'they'?
FromEden · 27/07/2021 20:33

The cdc/various state entities. See for example, the stats LA County were using to show only unvaccinated people are dying and they account for almost all infections. The range is from December 2020 up to June. This includes a large chunk of time from when not only was no one vaccinated, California was going through a huge surge. Misleading to say the least.

Just as a microcosm of the kind of recent data being collected by each state, in my state since June 1st, 21 people have died with Covid. Of those 2 were fully vaccinated.

On June 24th there were 31 people in hospital with Covid of whom 29 were not fully vaccinated.

Other states are seeing much worse numbers - ours are only relatively low because we have so many people vaccinated.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 27/07/2021 20:39

Data is also being gathered by hospitals, showing the vast majority of patients with Covid are unvaccinated.

www.wsj.com/articles/unvaccinated-covid-19-hospitalizations-11626528110

At UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock... "of 51 Covid-19 patients at the hospital on Saturday, 43 weren’t fully vaccinated. Two of the vaccinated Covid-19 patients had suppressed immune systems, according to UAMS."

"In North Carolina, where 53% of eligible residents are vaccinated, Covid-19 hospitalizations have risen every day for the past week to 536 on Thursday. More than 99% of cases and more than 98% of hospitalizations and deaths since May were among people who weren’t fully vaccinated, the state said."

“There is a clear message that is coming through: This is becoming a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said Friday at a White House briefing. She said more than 97% of patients entering the hospital nationwide are unvaccinated.

RoseWineTime · 27/07/2021 20:42

This is a useful graph just published by Covid-19 Actuaries Response Group (U.K.) showing hospitalisations split between vaccinated and unvaccinated. Vaccines work!

But perhaps FromEden you could provide some recent data showing that the vaccines are not effective against hospitalisation and death?

AllTheSingleLadiess · 27/07/2021 22:30

Thanks @RoseWineTime
Very reassuring and helpful

AllTheSingleLadiess · 27/07/2021 22:34

ZZTop - the 99% statistic was debated on LBC if you read a pp. Apparently the CDC admitted that it was before Delta was the dominant strain

Vallance said that 60% of hospitalizations in England aren't double jabbed (zero or one jab)

Yeah - I'm going with what the CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is saying, which matches what the state CDC is saying, which matches what the heads of various hospital systems are saying, rather than 'apparently the CDC admitted something and it was brought up in a debate on LBC.'

But some solid data would be interesting if you have it.

BruceAndNosh · 27/07/2021 23:16

I personally take those US figures of pretty much all deaths and hospital admissions being the unvaxxed with a large dose of salt

FromEden · 28/07/2021 00:39

I didn't say that? But that "99%" of cases, hospitalisations and deaths are in the unvaccinated is clearly horseshit. There is no actual evidence to back it up. They are lying to try and scare more people into getting vaccinated.

FromEden · 30/07/2021 19:22

Oh would you look at that,15% of covid deaths in hospital may were fully vaccinated. Its bound to be an even higher proportion now given that cases hadn't even started the surge in May. They lied.
