Greek residents travelling to UK - 10 day isolation?

DM has lived in Greece for 20 years, although she still has a UK passport. She is fully vaccinated (Johnson vaccine) and desperate to see her DCs and DGC in the UK who she hasn't seen for two years. We are unable to travel to her for various reasons. I've been trying to work out the rules and can't seem to get to the info I need on the government website.

Does anyone know if Greek residents entering the UK are exempt from the 10 day self isolation rule like returning tourists are?

Have similar issue with family (British) living and fully vaccinated in Italy this week. Unfortunately, they are apparently not exempt from 10 day quarantine as UK and EU are not currently recognizing each other's vaccination certificates/green passes. Frustrating madness

Worded that badly. They are visiting UK this week but had 2nd jabs over a month ago.

Thanks, it is a complete headfuck and I'm just done with it today - I miss her so much and cannot get my head around the double standards. I had been trying not to get my hopes up when the possibility of her travelling here started to be seriously discussed but I guess I did anyway Sad

I'm sorry you're in a similar boat Flowers

Actually many EU countries are recognising the NHS app as evidence - it’s just our govt being dicks.

AgentProvocateur · 22/07/2021 12:04

OP, she can isolate in your house - she doesn’t have to rent somewhere to be alone. It’s definitely allowed. We did this and stayed with me son.

Whathefisgoingon · 22/07/2021 12:05

This suggests it’s not currently the case -

Following as my greek parents are planning to visit us to meet their baby grand daughter. Both double jabbed since May, would only stay for 6 nights.

If she wasn’t vaccinated in the UK she won’t be exempt from isolation on entry, however, she can do this at your home, and the rest of the household are not required to isolate (however it may be a good idea to do so).

She will be eligible to do the test to release after 5 days which would reduce her time housebound, if she’s travelling to England.

Italy is recognising the NHS Vax. The 5 days quarantine in Italy is because of Delta. I'm in Italy, fully vaccinated since early May and can't come "home" because I'd have to quarantine for 10 days. Fully vaccinated and coming from a region which has 120 cases in total, and a town which has 41 (population of 60,000) Confused

yep, ..

Many EU states (even France) recognize the NHS vaccine/NHS vaccine pass and allow entry without quarantine or minimal quarantine.

The UK won’t reciprocate and recognize the EU vaccine pass.

Following as we're in the same situation. Hoping DH greek parents can come over in October.

Dogsandbabies · 14/08/2021 11:37

@Rouxmac as the rules have changed, at the moment your family are completely fine to enter the UK if they are fully vaccinated and have booked the Day 2 test. My parents just left after a 10 day visit to the UK from Greece.

Rouxmac · 14/08/2021 11:46

@dogsandbabies thanks for the info. 😊
