have any bubbles been sent home today (monday)

So our (primary) HT explains that bubbles are continuing until the end of term but not necessarily the sending bubbles home when positive. He says T&T will be sorting and as he understands it it will be 'properly close contacts' only being asked to isolate, and he thinks that means siblings etc.
However he admits he has no idea how it will work in practice other than he won't have anything to do with it.
Anyone's child test positive today and what happened? (obviously hope they are ok too).
Desperate to make it to the end of term without any more self isolation (DS had done 3 recently, including 2 back to back)

Yup, my DS had to come home this morning to SI. There’s only a handful of his year left in school now. He’s only been back 4 days since the last isolation episode. He’s in Yr 10.

AnnPerkins · 19/07/2021 20:30

I know of 3 at 3 different schools. Not my kids though.

JayDot500 · 19/07/2021 20:30

Yep. Two year groups in a primary school I know. PHE told them they need to isolate.

3asAbird · 19/07/2021 20:32

Yes year 3 at my sons primary school.
Local secondary school shut down again.
Nearly all local Bristol schools have bubbles out.
We have 2 days left of term.

3asAbird · 19/07/2021 20:34

The email said the postive result was today but test taken pre Monday hence why the year 3 and the breakfast club bubble are self isolating. I think ours results came through to confirm 2 positive cases.

OliveTree75 · 19/07/2021 20:34

My ds in y3 was sent home this morning. He was breaking his heart when I picked him upSad

Birdkin · 19/07/2021 20:37

2 at the primary school I work at. Including a year 6 class who are gutted :(

SwanShaped · 19/07/2021 20:38

Nursery have told kids to isolate due to a kid testing positive. But then rang the DfE and been told that actually they don’t need to as it’s been handed over to test and trace. So now the kids are back in.

Our head said phe no longer involved as of today? Is this wrong?

My year 5 DD got told to SI via email at 5.30pm today until midnight on Saturday. She's only missing the last day of term but a whole load of holiday plans up the swanny.

Bubblesareannoying · 19/07/2021 20:51

My DD (reception) whole year got sent home today due to positive case. I was unclear about why, as I thought similarly that this wouldn’t be happening from today. My DH called 119 and asked them for further info, and although the govt guidance says that now it’ll be t&t who will be sorting this, they said they hadn’t been given any proper instructions. Which pretty much sums up this shitshow doesn’t it!

SwanShaped · 19/07/2021 20:51

It changed today. Which is why we got told to isolate and then when they rang up was told we didn’t have to. Apparently DfE just ask a few questions and then you get told you don’t have to send kids home.

JayDot500 · 19/07/2021 20:51

@Frazzled2207 as it was Monday morning drama they weren't sure, but PHE confirmed they needed to isolate. The head didn't necessarily want the kids to isolate tbh.

anothermansmother · 19/07/2021 20:53

Yep my dd, the last 2 days of primary school now in isolation fir the 4th time since April!

Yup friends year in primary.

I really feel for the yr 6 classes :(

sanityisamyth · 19/07/2021 20:57

2 year groups at my DS's school went today. One of them had only just come back after isolating for 10 days. Another year group was isolating recently too. I've decided to keep my DS off tomorrow (last day of term) as it's not worth him getting told to isolate when he has training and competitions to do this week.

OliveTree75 · 19/07/2021 20:57

My ds whole year group of 90 sent home for one positive. Our council have told schools to continue as before for this week though as cases so high here

Cases very high here too and councils have said to keep bubble system until end of term but head quite adamant that council and phe no longer involved if a positive case 🙄

GingerandTilly · 19/07/2021 21:04

Cases 1300 per 100,000 in the North East so bubbles still closing here due to high case numbers.

Yeah that is where I am too
Neolara · 19/07/2021 21:25

We got a letter from head of education in our local authority saying contact tracing would now be done by T ,&T not schools. So if your child tests positive, you need to tell T&T the names and contact details of the parents of the children your DC has been in close contact with in school. Which will obviously work brilliantly because a) my DC will remember accurately everyone they spent time with and b) I fortunately just happen to have the names and contact details of the parents of all 60 kids in my DC's year group.

To be fair, the person who wrote the letter didn't make any pretence of trying to convince anyone it was a workable plan.i strongly suspect they also think it's a car crash plan.

Frazzled2207 · 19/07/2021 21:31

@Neolara
That’s what I thought but it sounds completely insane to me. If less whole bubbles get sent home though, I’m in.
Even if local authorities/schools do end up insisting that bubbles close I am guessing it is no longer legally binding for those children to have to self isolate?

GiantToadstool · 19/07/2021 21:55

Im curious what happens if say my child gets sent home tomorrow. Can she still go to an activity next week or is it legal still?

And in september it sounds like noone will isolate in schools. One extreme to the othwr.

I caught somehing on radio 4 that said by xmad they assumed all teens will either have had a jab or covid...

olivethegreat · 19/07/2021 22:10

So it's t&t now and you just say whose house your child has been to etc ? More about out of school stuff ?

A year group got sent home today from our s (secondary). We go away end of next week but I am planning to do 7 out of the ten days if we get notified to isolate by the school - unless it's proper t&t and one of dd's close mates .
