Another self isolation question....

We had a positive case at work and 4 staff members were close contacts and were sent home. Test and trace contacted them and told them to get a PCR test which they did and all -ve.

None of them had symptoms do why were they told to get a PCR?

I'm assuming they still have to self isolate the 10 days- do what was the point of the PCR?

Or can they come back to work?

The PCR is to see if they have covid so that their contacts can be traced.

The PCR doesn't change the self isolation advice for the person but it means if they tested positive their housrhold would also have to isolate.

Test and trace are now advising close contacts to get a PCR even if no symptoms - it's not a get out of jail card though, they still have to do 10 days.

My son had a case at his work, they were all told to get PCR tests. Another 6 tested positive despite having no symptoms. I get your point about the, isolating anyway, but it is best to know, as not everyone is following the rules.
