Post on NHS thread made me think

Monday 19th freedom day = no distancing
Combined with massive levels of infection all over the UK but worse on some areas mean extra pings extra people to self isolate.

Unless everyone deletes the app today or turns off sharpish won't the pindemic get worse.

I hate the name by the way its not the apps fault its doing job its meant to so.
A study said on news its prevented over 900 k infection.
The reason its a problem is because we let cases get so high.
Cant believe government did not forsee this.
No key services and business are so short staffed they close to collapse.
Why just hospital admissions were the only measure that mattered.
You can't have a healthy well functioning economy with high levels of covid.
Some freedom Day this will be think be a a summer of discontent.

Track and trace isolate is until 16th August so another 4 weeks away.
We have the pm , chancellor and health secretary all self isolating with javid having covid.
Wonder where he picked it up.

Almost certainly yes.

And it’s only “freedom day” in England. Wink

Yes, there will be considerably more contact which is close enough to carry the risk of transmission, because distancing and masks might not be so widely used/respected.

This will mean a rise in cases. Even more if people seek actively to avoid SI, even when they are a transmission risk.

I don't think some worked that out yet. Without masks and distancing then chances if them catching covid increases. You can't escape isolation if you covid postives.

Removing the last few restrictions that are simple and cost the government not much money will increase chances being pinged as close contacts unless nhs or Westminster still have to isolate up until 16th August.

This will give many many people including cev less freedom.

People will still distance themselves

It's natural to most of us now

Yes

That's why some utter twats are just deleting the app like that makes it all go away or something. Ugh

Topseyt · 19/07/2021 09:01

An app will not ping you if you don't have it.

LadyCatStark · 19/07/2021 09:02

Not really because the app pings you if you’ve been in the same place as someone who tests positive at any point during that day if you checked in so it’s already pinging people who’ve not been within 2m of a person with Covid.

I've deleted the app! Not because I want it to go away but because I don't get close enough to strangers so don't want a random ping.

The people I will get close to are also people who would tell me I am a close contact just like I would them.

The app works on Bluetooth, not just check ins. People have been pinged after connections through walls and cars.

Possibly not, but the government has been pretty clear that this will augment the current wave, something they seem to want, and which seems to have considerable support.

Possibly because of the government's rhetoric, which has led people to think that the choice is this and now v endless unchanging restrictions. Which of course it's not, and never was.

Deleting an app that's not fit for purpose doesn't make someone an 'utter twat'. For example I live in a flat, there's no way I'm isolating because I've been pinged because one of the neighbours has tested positive and it's picked up a signal through the wall!
