Boris sabotaging the UK

lightand · 19/07/2021 08:03

Feels like he is doing it on purpose to me.

Original lockdown weeks too late

Boris went to India[current Delta variant]

G7 - caused cases in Cornwall to soar

Pinging - so hampering the economy and NHS from doing work/saving lives.

Allows some people to try and escape his own rules, including himself.

fwiw, I have been a previous Tory voter sometimes. I am a floater, have been for years.

But I dont quite trust Boris.

Cute cuddly Boris, he is not.

Boris didn't go to India, he wanted to go but cancelled the trip.

Covidforalways · 19/07/2021 08:07

...because he is a populist, he does what he thinks people want, driven by the right wing MPs a european Bolsarano,

The UK has the 3rd highest CV rate anywhere in the world.

10x higher than france for example.

People should be asking why has CV been allowed to run riot in the first place, not arguing about an app.

Covidforalways · 19/07/2021 08:07

@SuperstoreFan

Boris didn't go to India, he wanted to go but cancelled the trip.
This is true, he did the next best thing and allowed in 20k people instead :(
x2boys · 19/07/2021 08:08

What do people want though, whatever he and the government do people whinge and moan and refuse to follow rules and guidelines. 🤷‍♀️

SuperstoreFan · 19/07/2021 08:09

Sorry I pressed post too soon.

Yes he is an absolute clown but what did anyone expect him to do?

Elys3 · 19/07/2021 08:12

People want clear and firm leadership in the main. He doesn’t seem to understand that high COVID case rates massively damage the economy and fiddling around with the rules won’t change that.

x2boys · 19/07/2021 08:16

People. Would still moan and call him a dictator, just look at all the threads about ditching masks, anyone with half a brain knows covid rates are sky high at the moment, but people are still ditching masks because they can that's if they ever wore them in the first place.

ChaToilLeam · 19/07/2021 08:18

He and his merry band of disaster capitalists don’t give a shit.

Yes but who has removed the SD and mask wearing? even opening up night clubs!

As said, the UK has super hi infections, why is that?

Are people in the UK naturally more thick than in other countries OR have we had shockingly bad leadership?

MyGardenSanctuary · 19/07/2021 08:38

Do get a life. Bye

This is somewhat true. You notice this a lot with the school threads.

Thing is, his job isn’t to be swayed too much by the public. His job is to protect the public.

Chloemol · 19/07/2021 08:47

He didn’t go to India

As to opening the country up, blame the MPs not him. They are the ones, along with business heads such as the guy who owns Wetherspoons champing at the bit to get the country open. If his MPs won’t support him to carry in with measures what hope has he?

As to the pinging, what do you want, either they do it, people self isolate to stop the spread, or they don’t and it spreads

What would your answer to the pandemic be?

lightand · 19/07/2021 08:47

I looked up some figures today.
We are doing awful, as regards cases, compared to the rest of the world, even European countries.

I accept I think, that Europe and South America are doing awful as they may not have encountered this type of virus so much in the past, and hence we dont have much immunity to it.
But even amongst those countries, we are doing shockingly bad.

Sorry, but I have to question whether he is doing deliberate sabotage. Which is deadly, as well as crippling the Uk financially, which in itself is deadly.

When a leader tries to get out of his own rules, I smell a rat.
I was disappointed with Sunak for doing that too.
Hardly all in it together, is it?

OP posts:
LazyViper · 19/07/2021 08:53

Why would he be sabotaging the country deliberately? Simple incompetence explains it all much more plausibly.

TheVampiresWife · 19/07/2021 08:56

He's been sabotaging the UK for years. Covid has just given him the opportunity to do so in a whole new way.

Canigooutyet · 19/07/2021 08:56

Once the cev who could have it, had the vaccine, what did people expect to happen? We would continue with restrictions?
When should we lift restrictions? September for a month because of flu season? March/April next year after flu season?
Didn't people get the vax so they could live without restrictions?

SuperstoreFan · 19/07/2021 08:56

I genuinely think that Boris believes that he might not be PM for much longer so if it all goes to shit again he'll scarper like a rat and get away with it.

P0gM0Th0in · 19/07/2021 09:01

@Canigooutyet not everyone is double jabbed yet though. Surely it would have made sense to wait a little longer until everyone had had the chance to be fully vaccinated?

MorrisZapp · 19/07/2021 09:01

Tell us what he should have done to keep Covid down while saving livelihoods?

MorrisZapp · 19/07/2021 09:03
@Canigooutyet not everyone is double jabbed yet though. Surely it would have made sense to wait a little longer until everyone had had the chance to be fully vaccinated?
NHS staff are getting their 'third jag' now, a booster. Vaccination is a cycle without end.

How much longer, in weeks say, is 'a little longer'?

3asAbird · 19/07/2021 09:06

I don't think he's a strategist that was doms job.
Ironic given his expensive and presugious education quite how thick he is.
I felt uneasy the way he ousted may who I do feel would have done a better job.
He surrounded himself by most useless ministers who won't stand up to him.
I wonder what role his new wife ex mistress plays in it all.

Sabotage would involve planning and thought.
The man's selfish and greedy.
Cant pay his own renovations
Moans his salary not enough I doubt he last the whole term.
Trouble is not sure who want take over.
I don't trust give I think he's keeping low profile so he can swoop in.
Javid sell his granny to get ahead and get back in cabinet.
Raab, hunt and may don't seem so bad now.
Most of bank bencher are crazy liberals who want zero restrictions.

Hes just incompetent,in decisive and always get feeling he's acts like a child..not very self motivated, avoids confrontation where he can would say anything to be popular.
Be interesting see if murdoch turns on him.

SpringRainbow · 19/07/2021 09:06

I have been wondering this a lot recently. The virus doesn’t seem to hold up well against the virus without restrictions.

I don’t think it matters how low you get cases, it doesn’t take much for them to shoot back up the moment things are relaxed.

Long term I have no idea what will happen.

I don’t believe we would ever be able to achieve zero Covid as that would require a global effort and everyone working together.

Hardbackwriter · 19/07/2021 09:08

Thing is, his job isn’t to be swayed too much by the public. His job is to protect the public.

He's a democratically elected prime minister not a dictator backed by a police state so paying heed to public opinion is both his job and a practical necessity

Figgygal · 19/07/2021 09:09

He is incompetent completely unsuitable for leadership and out of his depth
I’m just glad people are finally starting to see through him not enough unfortunately

Mistlewoeandwhine · 19/07/2021 09:10

He sways in the breeze. He’s an awful PM. Theresa May would have been a lot better in many ways and I say that as someone who always votes Labour.
