Amber plus quarantine

So…now that France is “Amber plus” or whatever they are calling it, I understand you have to quarantine for 10 days once home, doubled jabbed or not. But can you test out of quarantine on day 5 as you previously could with normal Amber?
These last minute changes are mind boggling abs not v clear!!!

Yes you can.

Yes you can, but that is yet another test you have to buy.

You must order and pay for the day 2 and 8 tests (even if you are going to leave the UK again before day 8), but you cannot use the day 8 test on day 5 to get an early release from quarantine. The day 5 one must be a special, magic one that works in a different way it isn't

I have seen a lot of anecdotal FB posts saying that the day 5 results are taking so long to come back that you might as well just wait for day 8 and set fire to some 20 quid notes in the interim!

it's a complete and utter farce. We have now cancelled our holiday to france - too much uncertainty and stress. But really feel for the many people I know who are desperate to see family in France and also those in France - many of them expats - desperate to see family in UK.

Thanks @Frazzled2207

A much nicer response than many on these type of threads who tell us it is our own fault for moving abroad and we should have factored Covid into our decisions 10 years ago.

myotherusernameistaken · 20/07/2021 10:56

Oh, and sorry about your holiday too. It sucks.

Frazzled2207 · 20/07/2021 11:00

it does but we feel lucky as we have had a very pleasant UK holiday earlier this summer.

I believe UK expats in France have a super raw deal right now because unless you were vaccinated in the UK and have access to the NHS app it's basically not recognised for skipping quarantine purposes. Bonkers.
